Visual Basic - How to create New Project in Visual Studio

in Education2 years ago

In this post, we take a look at How to create New Project in Visual Studio. I assume that you are going to be using the Visual Studio Community edition. And also you are going to install the Visual basic durng the start through the installer. So that there would option availabe for you to check out the visual basic once the visual studio setup passes through. So this tutorial would not be covering that part but the parts ahead of those things.

If you have not installed the visual studio, go ahead and check it out here. And from there you can download the installer. This would allow you to setup things and also you would be able to use with the visual studio. You can setup visual basic, dot net framework and also make sure to have the asp net or the web workspace there.

Now coming back to the topic, I assume that you have everything setup with the desktop. And you are good to work with the visual studio. So if everything is ready, follow along. If you want the visual instructions, then use the below video for the new project in Visual Basic.

First thing to do here is that you should fire up or in simple english, start the visual studio. Once you launch the launcher it should look something like this.

Now from the launcher you can click on create new project.

Next step is making sure that you should check for the template called the visual basic. And there you have option to either create the Windows program or Console app. Either one should be a good idea. You can also create the console app using the terminal command with the dotnet command.

In configuration you would be asked to choose the path for where to store the project files. You can alsocheck the solution name, path and also where you want to check all those configuration there. That is what I have noticed there for the working in short.

At the end you would have to choose the framework. Like dotnet framework 6 or 7. You have to choose here. That would give you an idea to work with anything specific feature where you would want to run the visual basic on specific framework.

Next step is completing the project wizard and allow the visual studio time to create the project. You can see that at the end you have a project or solution ready to be deployed and you can execute and get the window or the command line project ready to run as well.

You can run the program in a debug mode just in case if you want to count on the bugs or the errors and another as a standalone app which you would usually do with the executing the program.

Visual basic is a good language and it's good that we get to use it even in 2023 and there are ways to do the projects with it in the visual studio. I am going to be covering few other languages and the sample projects as the time comes. But you can keep an eye on my content through the channel. So get the video link above and go to the channel. This way you would be able to access the content of my channel.

If you are interested in my content, please do like, share and subscribe to those videos. And that would be a good direction you can check out with the video and also there would be a good option for you to work with the content there. Now that we have got this tutorial done you can explore more of such content through my playlist and you have plenty of other good content to explore there.

I hope to cover more of the visual studio and other tutorials next week :)
