We all know, what are QR codes. They are super convenient. QR codes exists everywhere to make payment. We see in restaurant, bus stops, markets and product packaging. We just on our mobile camera, scan QR code, click on link and here we go, payment transfer. But do you know these QR codes are also a way to exploit you by the scammers. Yes, scammers are using these QR codes to target you.

Welcome to the Threat Thurday, where we show you threats on every Thursday. Today, we are going to see another threat which is exist and can harm. So know it and protect yourself to this scam. This threat is known as QR phishing or quishing.

QR phishing involves malicious QR codes that trick the individuals to visit malicious websites or make payments to scammers account. These QR codes mimicks to be legitimate and steal your sensitive information like passwords, credit card information or security numbers. The malicious links are embedded to QR codes to scam you.

How can you protect yourself with this scam, first thing first, use such QR scanner those show preview, carefully look in to URL before open it. Verify source by looking into the sticker, if double do not make payment or further move. Do not enter your sensitive information to login page to make payment, open the browser and visit official website manually. Always keep your device OS updated.
