But before starting the fun it is important that we know or remember a basic concept.

What is the Center of Gravity?

The center of gravity is the point where all the gravitational forces that are exerted on a body are found. It is the place where the sagittal, frontal and horizontal planes meet.Source

Materials:

• Two identical forks.
• A wooden stick

Procedures:

• Place the two forks intertwined and then intertwine the wooden stick at one end.

• If we hold the wooden stick, the forks will remain in balance.

• We can also place our toothpick with the forks on any other stable surface and you will be surprised that without having to hold it the forks alone with the toothpick keep their balance.

What is happening?

The center of mass of the set is below its point of support, thus maintaining the stable balance of the two forks and the wooden stick.
