Science at home! Fun homemade experiments for the little ones. Today we will learn about Elasticity and Inertia!

in Education5 years ago

Hello friends of @hive, the education of our children is extremely important and we as parents have the responsibility to ensure that this is the best possible and not only leave this task to the teachers.

Through home experiments we can teach our children certain concepts of science that otherwise seem boring.

Today we will work with the concepts of Elasticity and Inertia, by means of a simple and fun experiment that the little ones can use with their friends, challenging them in a fun bet.

But before showing you our fun experiment it is very important that we review two very important concepts that intervene in it.

What is the elasticity of a material?

It is the faculty that has a body to return to its original form after it ceases to intervene the force that is altering it.

What is the inertia?

It is the inability of a body to move by itself or to stop moving by itself.

Now if we go with the experiment.

Materials:

  • A cloth tablecloth or napkin.
  • A glass cup
  • Three coins, two large and one smaller.

Process:

We place the tablecloth on a table, we place the two large coins side by side at a certain distance which we will step with our glass and the smallest one in the center of the glass. (as shown in the photo)

  • Then the trick comes! We must remove the coin from the center of the glass if you touch it or move it.

  • How do we do it? well we will pull the napkin sharply on several occasions in the bottom where the small coin is so that it is moving moving every time we do, little by little the coin will go rolling until out of the glass.

  • Funny truth ?? we take out the coin without touching it.

Why does this happen?

When you tear the fabric of the tablecloth it stretches because the material with which it is made has elastic, upon loosening it the fabric returns to its original shape so quickly that the coin that is on it does not move due to inertia, is for this every time we tear the cloth the coin goes little by little moving on the fabric until it comes out of the bowl.

Home experiments are a very useful tool to educate our children, children are full of curiosity and love to experiment and discover new things, so we can take advantage of that, inmiscuyendolos and taking them to situations that arouse interest to investigate and learn. I invite you to put into practice these fun homemade experiments because I know that your children will have fun and at the same time learn, without taking into account that you will spend quality time with them and create unforgettable memories together. I hope you liked my post and I will exude you in the next one. Regards!

It's a great experiment. I'll try it out with my kids first thing tomorrow. Thanks for the good idea.

Thanks to you! You will see that it will be super fun and they will learn! Regards!

These experiments are valuable as kids will remember this much easier than just learning from a piece of paper.
Thanks for sharing.
