Ive had an interesting Journey over the last 7 years here on Hive. Ups and downs and all around. I struggled with the cross over to Hive. I had been very attached to my Steem journey and while I recognize why the hard fork was needed it still left a bad taste in my mouth. With time i clearly see it was a really forking good move, and it made Hive into what so many Cryptos strive or pretend to be…. Actually Decentralized.
Whenever i go to Hivefest, i find my self invigorated with new hope for Hive. I see all the work and energy that people put into it. I discover new tools and hear about exciting projects. I meet cool people who believe in Hive and can explain why in elucidating ways. Mostly it just fun to be around all that buzzing. I’m a sucker for fun and spirit.
I made a fairly large HPUD this month, because i want to support this ecosystem. For all its flaws, it’s worth it to me to give to a social media i want to see in this world. Honestly i dont get why more people dont get it. The idea of having control over and owning your own content seems so obvious. That no one can take away my account because i broke some rule is clearly best to my eyes.
I’m willing to take that risk and invest in this blockchain. I know there is dodgy shit that happens here, but that is a mirror into the world in general. Scammers gonna scam, milkers gonna milk, trolls gonna troll. Cause right next to all that, writers gonna write, techies gonna tech, artists gonna art, etc.etc.
Big ol’ ball of it all, and it just where you put your focus too. I choose the good feeling and the hope for Hive these days, and I’ll keep doing that until i dont. 🤗
I was really touched by the talk that @arcange gave at hivefest. His vulnerable words hit home. And so i found myself reading through some of his various offerings and supportive mechanisms that he created. I had never heard of the Power up Helper or the Power Up Month.
I felt inspired.
So…
I decided to be a Power Up Helper
Last month my kids surprised me, by on boarding their cousin. I helped him get an account set up. And now im helping him Join his first HPUD day.

I think i may try for the Power up Month too. We see how it goes. lol, im also a Butt and can be forgetful. We will see wont we.

Yeah, I have stuck around over the years. I posted a lot my early years…. Then dropped back, 2021 I only posted a few times. I always tried to post at least once a month. Been more active this last year, I like to try and always have an active post. But life does life and it’s not always in the cards.
Currently traveling with the kids, so there is more free time and plenty to post about.
I’m very open here, as I’m called buttcoins and there are only about 5000 active users… it feels more like my diary that a few people can see.
I remember you saying you were private, I respect that… but as you can see, my entire family are in my posts.
My kids have an account… they do all their own creation. We don’t let them have Facebook or TikTok or insta, so they put their energy into this. I may be naive, but it feels healthier to me that they invest their time into something that doesn’t mine their meta data and that they control and have say over.

I’ll give similar advice as before, staying consistent in the start helps. It also helps to invest a bit and turn into hive power, and with .20 cent hive, it’s a pretty safe buy price. It’s not necessary, but it helps imo.
My kids have never invested and now their account does fair, but it took time.
As hive has such a loyal community, I personally feel confident about the longevity of this blockchain.
And as corporate social medias will never pay you, I question why people don’t just look at the earnings no matter how small as just a bonus.

Thank you for your from the heart reply. When somebody speaks about his family, it is from the heart, especially with the kids. My kid turned 6 and does not know how to write or read, but when he will be able to, he will probably build something up. Gave your kids a follow, as it is fun to see, how kids turn ideas into something else. Also, for the corporate social medias, we are just products or resources.
Yes, agree that life does life, and there is always a top priority that needs to be taken care of. Somehow, with age, this got tougher, maybe by good or bad choices, but they eat a lot of time. Where do you travel next? If you come to the German Alps, let me know, first drink is on me.

Oh wow good on you man that's a decent sized power up! Really nice that you did it for your cousin too, that'll set him up for a good start. I will check his blog out.
I powered up another 318 Hive a few days ago myself and why not? Especially with Hive being so cheap. We all know Hive can perform so much better. Should I have waited until Hive Power Up Day to have done my power up or not? Does it make much difference? Do you get a gold start or something if you wait until Hive Power Up Day before powering up?
I’d say powering up any day is good. I guess the hpud gives it that collective feeling. lol, and yeah, you do get a badge for participating. Hivebuzz has all kinds of bells and whistles to get that dopamine spiking!
Yeah, I hope fintheanimalfan keeps posting, I’d like to see more kids and family content in general.

Yeah, hard to not know about hivebuzz, as for many its the only comments they get.
I guess in a way it’s easy to overlook all that they do and what badges they have on offer. Even as i was digging around the other day, i became aware of several things that they provide. Something I realized was they have an overall ranking section, and in that you get access to several bits of info, as i often wonder how close i am from say moving up the next point in rep score. I used to use steemworld to find my stats, obviously that is done, then i started using hivestats. But that seems to not be updating any more. But i realized i can see a nice layout of my stats through hivebuzz. I'm currently at 70.2. On my arduous slog to 71 😂
I have to watch the recording of Hive Fest, saw Yabamatt speak but other than that didn't watch the rest...
Yeah, there were many great presentations! Worth checking out for sure!
