Twitter dissolved its trust and safety council on Monday, a group of volunteers formed in 2016 to advise the company on hate speech and other issues on the platform.

Since the publication of the Twitter files Roth has faced a wave of criticism of a different nature online, screenshots of many previous Roth tweets with inappropriate explicit content of a sexual nature are being shared and commented on.

Meanwhile, journalist Bar Weiss published a fifth of the Twitter files on Monday afternoon, detailing how Trump was banned from the site despite Twitter employees determining that he "did not violate Twitter policies"; the justification given was “due to the risk of further incitement to violence”

In response to criticism of previous content moderation decisions, Yoel Roth tweeted on December 1, “you can quarterback all day on concrete decisions and mistakes but the real job is figuring out how to make principled decisions when everything else that he has are bad options”, as if the citizens had chosen him as a “field marshal” so that he could apply his “principle”.
