I was a occupational safety and health officer. You would be amazed at the lengths companies would take to hide or ignore potential issues.
the first time that I held the position I was only 18 years old and was lowest person in the company.
Because I was injured quite a bit on a certain piece of equipment I had asked to make some adjustments to remove the health hazards. I was even willing to do the work myself.
However we had no safety officer at the time and it would require a signature.
So I ended up becoming the safety officer and highly popular with the entire company workforce.
There was one time my manager was giving me some issues and hassles so I decided if he was going to behave like that he could clean up all of the boxes of records on the stairs leading up to his office because it was a severe tripping risk as well as multiple workplace violations.
He was so mad but I had taken the proper steps and even the owner of the company laughed and said that this manager was not above the rules and needed to get it done before noon.
