News Flash, Y'all?

in Deep Dives26 days ago

I've openly admitted to not being a big fan of the Media and the things they print as "Breaking News". That has been my stance for a good number of times and it's still the same in this era which is massively dominated by digital reports from media outlets.

I've tried not reading Newspapers or reading stuff that's uploaded to tabloids by media houses. I thought of it as some sort of flex. It's a flex of the naive because keeping myself away from these has a way of making me uninformed. That was the case when I didn't bother to know what was making news headlines. During those moments, whenever I decide to check out the news and know what's buzzing in the world, I ended up becoming misinformed about a lot of stuff.

That's a very sad thing to come to terms with because it almost feels like we are caught in a shitty situation regardless of what we choose to do regarding News reports.

Well, what do we do?

Should we keep on reading the news or is it okay to just be naive?

That's an interesting question that I've been thinking of because it's related to a project I'm working on. And, the conclusion I came to is that it's already obvious that there is wild access to information all over the world. The information circulation mediums are numerous and there is really no limit to the number of information that's available out there.

I may decide to keep my eyes on the TV channels of news organizations. Some other people may choose to get news reports from online media websites. Folks can apply for newsletters from agencies of their choice and some others may just go directly to the profile of these news agencies on YouTube, Twitter, and whatnot.

With all these available options that can be explored to get information, one of the thing that has become really common among Media houses is the rush to "be the first" to give news reports. They want to be the first to always release "Breaking News" and you would be surprised by the low level of effort that's made to fact-check the authenticity of these breaking News.

We shouldn't have to doubt the authenticity of any publication from Media houses or solo Journalists. However, the track record of these folks makes it really hard to just take whatever they are publishing without fact-checking the info. Of course, putting out a lot of unverifiable news reports and publications that turn out to be fake news isn't something to be proud of. It's an unethical and unprofessional conduct.

News Flash, Y'all!

The BS you get as breaking News won't be stopping anytime soon. This stuff is selling and people have forgotten what it means to fact-check before believing whatever info they receive as breaking News. Since that's the case, choosing to not just chase after Breaking News is a choice we all have to make. How about we focus more on getting the truth?

You sure wouldn't want to be misinformed. Would you?

Thanks For Not Missing Any Full-stop or Comma.

Misinformation is the new trend now, and it is just dad because that's not what New reporting is about. You are right when you said every media outlet out there wants to be the first to break the news, which usually leads to misinformation because some obvious facts aren't checked.

Also, the media sells by grabbing people's attention which is why most of th use false headline to capture people's attention but, the truth is that, some people (like me who don't have the luxury of time to check out the main gist will just ignore) but, there are some people who never reads what next and just pass the story regarding the headline given.

True. It's a click bait approach and that's what the Media outlets are currently using, especially the ones that publish/upload their content online. They are all about grabbing people's attention and forcing a reaction out of people.

Sadly, lies usually does a better job of getting the clicks. That's why these outlets are continuously taking that route.

I am of the same opinion, I rarely visit news websites, TV stations or even radio. The only time I listened to radio in the past year was when I put up an advertisement and had to listen to ensure they were playing it at the promised time.

That's true. A lot of people have already decided to abandon the info from these News agencies. There's nothing inspiring that makes it to news headlines, just awfully depressing things. It's even worse when there is a wild misinformation

Most people are just after money including the media and that's why misinformation isn't a big deal for them anymore. They are always chasing who will share first and get traffic for their money regardless of if the news is verified or not. I think watching news from TV is even fair enough more than listening to the media

Yeah. The fact that the media are more interested in being the first ones to release Breaking News instead of being focused on reporting the news is a big issue to deal with. This basically means that we can't fully trust News Reports without vetting them for more details if we want to avoid being misinformed.

I hardly sit down to read news nowadays. Probably because I am just obsessed with making money 😂

Hahah... This our making making adventure no be small thing oooo. Money has to be made. That's for sure.

I believe we have a lot to do when it comes to fact-checking because, the unveiling of a truth requires great amount of patience as it takes time to accomplish. The headlines are full of lies and deceits, the worse case is that, most of the headlines do not collocate with the body. Thank you for this post!

Awesome one, bro. It's really not easy to see a news agency that priorities giving a truthful report. What they seem to be focused on is "breaking News" and they push these things out there without considering how truthful it is.

If anyone is a big fan of the News, I always suggest the person try to be sure he won't be misinformed about anything that's being reported.

That's it, sir.
