Homeschooling has never been so popular. And it's all thanks to the government's response to COVID-19. Society may be turning into a technocratic wet-dream of increasing control over our lives, but this is one good thing to come from all this authoritarian madness.

Schools have reopened in some places, but parents are avoiding them anyways. But it's not a very welcoming place. It's even dehumanizing as some parents put it. I think that's an accurate statement when you look at how children are being treated. These were the CDC guidelines from May:
- Strict social distancing tactics
- All-day mask wearing for most students and teachers
- Daily health checks
- No gym or cafetaria use
- Restricted playground access and limited toy-sharing, and
- Tight controls on visitors to school buildings, including parents.
School have been compared to being similar to prisons, with their fences all around. But that loose comparison is getting more real. They may not be literal prisons, but they are morphing into prison-like environments.
People even support the government's measures. People are seriously still afraid of COVID-19 like some plague, like a deadly flu of 1918, despite the data showing how it;s akin to a more severe flu season in some places, and like a mild flu in others, even within different US states.
School opening delays were based on fears of killing children. But that's not true, since children are the least susceptible to catching COVID-19. The proximity children have to vulnerable people, like their grandparents, was another reason for keeping schools closed. In terms of contagious transmission, they are the least contagious as barely any parents have gotten COVID-19 when their child got it.
Some parents have been homeschooling their kids for months now, and they are used to it. Looking at how the schools have degenerated, many parents plan on removing their kids from school permanently in favor of homeschooling. Sentiments like a Florida mother, Rachael Cohen, are common:
“Mandated masks, as well as rigid and arbitrary rules and requirements regarding the use and location of their bodies, will serve to dehumanize, disconnect, and intimidate students.”
Many children are going to missing when most schools are scheduled to reopen in the fall, ready for a "predicted" second, third, fourth, fifth or whatever bullshit wave. In a USA Today/Ipsos poll, 60% of those surveyed said they will likely choose home learning even if in-person learning at schools resumes. 30% very likely to do homsechooling.
Governments are worried. They want to force kids into their indoctrination centers. Teachers and unions want to keep the tax payer money flowing. Crack downs are in effect, where schools are trying to block parents from removing their children from schools.
The UK has mandatory/compulsory schooling laws, and they have already said they will fine parents for removing their children from schools.
“We do have to get back into compulsory education and obviously fines sit alongside as part of that," English secretary Gavin Williamson announced.
Schools aren't the best environment for learning, as you don't learn at your own pace. And now it's worse with the COVID-19 crazy rules. The state is showing their mindset of forcing compliance to second rate environments to homeschooling. Homeschooling is winning out in our crazy post-COVID world. Thank you government and media hysteria for helping this happen.
Homeschooling is the way to go. I did this with my son after he finished the 5th grade. He was one of the brighter students, and would get in trouble a lot as he finished his work quickly and then wanted to talk out of boredom. They lean towards teaching towards the lowest common denominator so they can appear more successful, which handicaps children who aren't slower.
I also didn't appreciate all the social mindsets they seemed to focus on that were contrary to reality. My son did learn not to listen to them about violence is never the answer. He was a punching bag his last year for half the year. Some kid who was older (had flunked despite the work being watered down for folks just like him) would hit him daily. I kept urging my son to fight back, only way to stop it. He finally had enough and did. The principles face was priceless when I let her know my son might be in trouble at school, but he was getting ice cream on the way home. That he wasn't sent to her school to be a punching bag and if the school couldn't stop that, then my son had permission to see that it stopped.
Given the mandated reporter laws here, coupled with so many cases of abuse, its not smart to have that much overreach into ones home under the justification that there are a handful of cases that are in need of such tactics.
Exactly. That's how those who are quicker and can learn faster are held back and end up being looked at as problems for the cohesion of the class "order". Don't defend yourself is a way to make people into victims and be abused. It's sickening how society is brainwashed like that.
Kids also learn differently and who better to know how their kids learn than their parents.
I am glad that my children are at home. To send the children to school under these conditions is child abuse in my eyes.
At home I have the opportunity to teach them the really important things.
Right on, they learn quicker and better.
I started homeschooling in March instead of doing the virtual classroom sh*t, just the kick in the pants I needed to get them out. They will stay in homeschool now.
Way to go :D
I am a grand parent now but my grandchildren are facing a return to school mandate here .
I am encouraging my son,s to home school it’s the safest way and I believe the best move to make. If I was faced with this decision when my kids were young , hands down
Home School 😊
Great post
Hopefully they can. Government is slavery, trying to fine parents for teaching kids at home.
"Looking at how the schools have degenerated, many parents plan on removing their kids from school permanently in favor of homeschooling."
I think what they're going to do is get rid of homeschooling completely, in favour of the new "schooling from home". So it won't be like homeschooling was, pre-covid. It'll be government indoctrination via wifi linked smart device, 8 hours a day, 5 days a week.
Would be nice if the majority just switched to teaching their children real skills and values, but most people don't know any skills or values, and the state isn't about to let that happen anyway.
I think all this was planned, simulated, and decided upon years ago. Homeschooling won't be path to Liberty it appears to be at the moment.
Yeah thats a good point on schooling at home, to promote that over actual homeschooling as it was done before. Indoctrination just moves into the home :/
Home schooling actively involves parents in their child's education. With done correctly, children can master the subject matter and not train to just pass exams. As an enormously additional benefit is that children are spared from the the mass indoctrination so prevalent in so many of today's institutions of learning.
One possible downside to home schooling is children may limited social contact to their peers during the learning process. However, until better institutional options avail themselves, home schooling may be the most prudent path for parents to take.
Yeah if other kids are at school centers and they aren't social life can be affected. But if everyone is homeschooled it can take only a few hours instead of 6-8 hour days. Or 2-3 days instead of 5.
What I am sure of, is that now nothing will ever be the same again, I think and I am almost sure that we will live in a totally virtualized world.
Yeah the virtual world is getting a boost into all our lives. And it will increase.
At least that's a nice positive to come out of COVID-19. BTW you should check out
Yup, I watch them each week. Great content. He was spot on in March about the BS on COVID.
It is ok when the government abuses our children but god forbid a parent be seen as abusive. Great post.
Whether I continue distance learning or opt to homeschool my child will NOT be returning to school next month.
Nice, glad to hear it ;)
In my country, it looks not possibe to open the schools in Sep due to 900s-1000s cases everyday. Furthermore, even before coronavirus, the capacity of the classrooms was not enough. In a classroom of a gov-school, there were more students than its capacity, such as three students in a desk. Online education together with partial reopening is the only solution for now.
What do so many cases matter? Who is dying? Where? What age?
The more cases the more infections. In general people above 60 dying, in Turkey.
@krnel This is a great post!
I so wish that they had home schooling in my days, as I hated the schooling system.
My sister in law has 2 educational degrees and she home schooled her children.
Then they moved to a different province and they asked her to teach in a formal school and the school also enrolled her children.
Covid struck and recently they wanted her to return to the school, but she said that it was too early for the school to re open. They wanted to force her and she resigned.
Now she is back doing home schooling and in the meantime the school has reported some teachers with covid infections.
Schools are indeed indoctrination prisons!
Considering our current education system, homeschooling is better. Still, how can the lockdown lead to this scenario since
I took my kids out of the indoctrination centers back in the 90s when homeschooling was a constant fight with CPS on an almost weekly basis. They had the audacity to question my qualifications to teach my kids at the same time I was teaching at a community college. The result was 4 well educated children who became successful adults.
