Yup it's fishy. Doesn't seem like it was him, given the powdered form was hard to make, needing specialized equipment that he apparently didn't have. And duh, when you want to do something criminal, you don't use something that can be traced to you, you would go get someone else's strain and use that instead to frame them, which is what could have been done to him. But the other lab was already doing powdered from and had lax security. Did they even have the RMR-1029 strain though? Maybe it was taken from elsewhere, like from Ivins, and refined to a powder there. I think he was killed to shut him up and close the case in a nice package.

Thanks for reading! This post was tough for me to complete as there was so much info to sift through. It's an intriguing story for sure, and from what I've seen the evidence is not rick solid and there could certainly be a deeper program at the classified level that may have been involved.
If I remember correctly, many of Ivins 'flask' samples originated from Dugway and, not 100% off the top of my head, but I believe that the Dugway spores were Ames strain but maybe not RMR-1029. The RMR 1029 was being researched by several scientists at F.D. including Ivins. I think that Ivins was a bit of a loon, or at least that's how he was portrayed in the report -so take that with a grain of salt - so I think he was singled out because they could build a case around his eccentricity and odd behaviour. It's actually quite sad, as they used his psychological med records to bolster their claims and even pointed to him being neglected as a child among other things. I couldn't fit everything in to this post but if you read the summary report from the cloud document you'd find it interesting how they constructed a profile of him. Of course, this is par for the course for these agencies.
Welcome :D Thanks for writing it. Seems like a lot of research hehe. I was trying to think of a topic, but only started to think on the Friday before it was due on Monday, so that was like 2 days. Maybe next DD i'll submit something ;)
I also thought that the psychological state, if real, would indicate a 'reason' for a suicide. But, knowing how people end up dead when they are accused of as a scapegoat, or people who are silenced form speaking because they are dead... I tend to go with the latter than a real suicide. Like you say, the psyche profile was justification to insinuate his guilt and make him an easy target, especially for silencing by 'suicide'.
