It may not be ideological (like the impression it gives) - there may be, in fact, a far more pragmatic reason...

It doesn't excuse the behaviors, or make them any less spinless pieces of crap - but it does go some way as to explain the actions beyond it being a purely ideological one.
I think it might be very valid.
If I'm correct in my hypothesis (it's an hypothesis), then the can of worms it opens goes far beyond just the implication of 'ideological motivations to censor us'.
While the actual results of it may look the same to us on our downvoted accounts - the long term reasoning behind the actions may be very different .
Ironically (if I'm correct in the hypothesis) - the reasons behind these actions are even more stupid and shortsighted, than the apparent ideologically motivated ones!
Yeah... We're talking that of level of stupid!
