RE: On Censorship and the Decentralization of Power

Awesome post! Really well done. I hadn't run across the Norway-Germany comparison before, but it makes perfect sense.

One question that comes up for me is how to decouple our information systems from the control regime's propaganda machine. This decoupling is happening in a technological sense to some extent. But within our own minds and social systems, official versions of the truth, however untrue, exert a constant force designed to disempower individuals and communities, on both conscious and unconscious levels. So I wonder: how can we disconnect from this force while connecting more fully with each other to build consensus around more empowering versions of the truth?

Thank you, Mark. Your reblog means a lot to me... :) I worked really hard on this one lol.

What a great and deep question. The whole idea of "truth" and how we think about reality seems to be underlying all the crises we face, aka the "crisis of perception." Just knowing it's possible to build consensus, that people are finding common ground, and that it is making a real difference is so important. Our media systems can report so much more of the common good that's still here and happening despite the constant force exerted on us. We need to be inspired by stories where people are breaking free from the control regime in positive and constructive ways so we can learn from them. Like the Norway-Germany example or the Taiwan example, which I can't seem to stop mentioning when it comes to convos about social change these days. Is this what you were getting at?

That's part of what I was getting at. The other part was suggesting that clearing out false realities might be a holistic proposition. For sure we should create better systems and be inspired by examples of what works. But there's a personal/psychological level of this proposition that I think should also be supported.

Absolutely. Interesting that you're talking about this, since that holistic activism post I'm slowly working on is attempting to address just that.

Random thought for the future: I can see our heads + hearts melding together and writing things together about the future of activism, and how it's linked with looking at consciousness and human nature in new lights.

We should for sure write together. Combining these subjects cleanly sounds like a fun challenge: )
