Masks stop you spreading the virus rather than stop you getting it. Hence the reason all medical staff conducting medical procedures wear them......perhaps you would be happier if you needed an operation, the surgeon didn't bother to wear one?
Whilst not wasting my time looking at your 'sources', Let's look at many Aisan countries, those poor, developing nations who have been wearing masks and using gels since February and who even before that, used them to protect themselves and others. Densley populated Asian cities who have had zero deaths, and for many days zero cases in the last couple of months. Any scientific evidence is never going to be accurate as there isn't enough day from a long enough period of time to be effectively useful so lets go with the the 'on-the-ground' experience here shall we?
The world is 7 billion people full and the human race is about interdependency and cooperation. The only 'shocking truth' is there are still selfish wankers, crying about 'liberty' because they have neither the common sense nor compassion to wear a simple face mask. It's childish and pathetic and beyond words.

I am not missing the point. Although the available studies show no evidence of this, I do understand this is the argument being made, however it is not an argument based on sound science but rather unproven theory and hype. As to surgeons, see the second study, which investigated that exact scenario, and found no evidence support the claims that masks worn by either surgeons or patient protect either from infections contamination. That’s the conclusion of scientific medical study, not my opinion. They may help stop the spread, however there is yet no evidence to support that theory, and the CDC study further confirms no evidence that they do anything to reduce contamination.
Besides, even if your thesis is true, that is no justification for mandating entire populations to wear them and thus constantly subject themselves to oxygen deprived environment, when they could simply require the sick people to wear them. “Almost zero” people under 45 get this thing, according to leading Stanford Doctor, so they should also be exempt from these mandates, yet are not. It’s already been shown that asymptomatic people don’t spread it either, so there is really no excuse for statewide mandates regardless of effectiveness.
Well, that is your problem, not mine, that you refuse to look at the evidence. My sources were legitimate medical studies published on official government websites, and ignorance is a choice not mandated unlike the spreading face mask requirements. Maybe next time, look at the sources for an article before arguing against the premises based upon those sources. If you discount scientific studies carried out by the CDC and prestigious medical journals, then what do you find to be a legitimate source for medical subjects such as this?
Oh, and yes, it’s no joke that the masks do in fact create unsafe oxygen deprived environment, measuring in at 17-19% oxygen with highly accurate equipment. OSHA defines “safe” working environment as anything above 19.5%-22%. 21% is the healthy normal. Again, discounting the evidence doesn’t make it disappear, it only demonstrates a willful choice to remain ignorant.
And as far as “liberty” goes, I’m not aware of the place in the constitution that exempted the government from its limitations due to ‘medical emergencies’. Feel free to point that out if it’s in there. If not, they are all violating their oaths of office, regardless of how you feel about it.
