RE: "NEW NORMAL" = POLICE STATE

Heinlein is one of my favorite authors. Starship Troopers the movie didn't do full justice to the book of course. I actually would prefer a society like that, over what I live in now. I don't consider it fascist.
I consider what we have now in the USA to be FAR more Fascist than Starship Troopers. Although the USA isn't 'Nationalist' any more, as it has become a Marxist utopia heading for Bolshevik Revolution. Like a twisted mix of Fascism with Marxism.

The 'DeafPhoenician' of 'Fascism' is quite varying depending on the source.

Heinlein in 6 minutes,

Are you sure you'd say "far more"?

It sounds like the humans inadvertently "invaded" the "bug planet" (an obvious metaphor for "foreign savage land") and then the "savages" responded by sending projectiles at planet earth.

Then the "humans" pretended to be "surprised" when the "savages" aren't keen on "peace talks".

This made me laugh, as I have a real life scenario I've witnessed that is exactly this. I've spent more than half my life in Tucson, and I sold for many years at their swap meet. Their swap meet is predominantly made up of Mexicans, and I struck up a lot of bonds with many of them. Many of them I know still consider that land to be part of Mexico and believe they will one day claim it back. I've told others who are white about it, and about the far extreme of it called La Raza . They shrug and if pressed claim it's all ancient history and of no concern now. My observation on the dynamics of that are the inheritors of the spoils assume just because they are happy with the end results that with time passing so are the victims.

Just like politics. Just because you might not be interested in them, doesn't mean they aren't interested in you.

Excellent point.

My grandparents owned that land before your grandparents.

Well, my great-grandparents owned that land before your great-grandparents.

It seems to have worked out pretty well in the middle-east.

Yes, FAR more.....by Mussolini's definitions and explanations:

The Fascist State lays claim to rule in the economic field no less than in others; it makes its action felt throughout the length and breadth of the country by means of its corporate, social, and educational institutions, and all the political, economic, and spiritual forces of the nation, organised in their respective associations, circulate within the State. (p. 41).

State intervention in economic production arises only when private initiative is lacking or insufficient, or when the political interests of the State are involved. This intervention may take the form of control, assistance or direct management. (pp. 135-136)

It may be objected that this program implies a return to the guilds (corporazioni). No matter! ... I therefore hope this assembly will accept the economic claims advanced by national syndicalism (sindacalismo). (p. 24)

The Fascist conception of the State is all-embracing; outside of it no human or spiritual values can exist, much less have value. Thus understood, Fascism is totalitarian, and the Fascist State—a synthesis and a unit inclusive of all values—interprets, develops, and potentiates the whole life of a people. (p. 14)

"Marriage between Corporations and State"

ALL ARE CITIZENS WHEN BORN UNDER THEIR 'BERTH' 'Certificate'.

Starship Troopers, you had a choice. Civilian, or Citizen.

Starship Troopers, you had a choice. Civilian, or Citizen.

So, no "inalienable rights"?

No, "all men are created equal"?

No, "voting rights for all members of society"?

Also, I didn't notice any "humane treatment of POWs" in Starship Troopers...

Try to imagine Starship Troopers with all of the human characters played by terminator style robots barking in monotone or some grotesque insectoids speaking in clicks like in District 9 - - and the "bugs" played by human characters. Do you think your instincts might be inverted?

I also think part of the point of the movie is that we make a TON of assumptions about the "bugs" simply because we don't speak their language.

We assume they're some sort of "uniform hivemind", but THEY probably think the exact same thing about the humans. Why else would these human teenagers mindlessly follow orders to their certain doom if they were not part of some "uniform hivemind"? I mean, we never even see any of the "bug" civilians (and they never see any human civilians). Certainly the "bugs" must have some sort of food cultivation system, right? Homes and children? I mean, unless they're just immortal rock eaters? Did the "colonists" perhaps accidentally contaminate the "bug" planet, killing off their flora and fauna? Even if it was unintended, wouldn't that (quite reasonably) seem to cross the line of "criminal negligence" from the "bug's" perspective?
