RE: Analyzing Fact Checkers, 'Refusing' the Vaccine and How Sensationalist Memes are used as Disinformation

in Deep Dives4 years ago

I was just talking about fact checkers last night with a newly graduated young woman. I said "they find a tiny irrelevant-to-the-main-content-of-the-article piece that is marginally incorrect, then mark the entire article and ALL its content false". She said "they say it's partly false" in the fact checkers defense. True, but no one who accepts the fact checker pronouncements reads far enough to know that, so the readers go away thinking the main claim is false. How is it possible so few people see this?

This reaction is attributable to a common tendency of the human animal to place things in two boxes 'right' or 'wrong'. It's a testament to the inability (or unwillingness) to face the pain of the hard work of dividing truth from fiction, of filtering through gray areas to save all the babies from all the bathwaters.

It's hard work to precisely divide truth from fiction. Many activists spread a form of disinformation by contaminating their publications with emotion, causing the average person to distance themselves from them - while they actually often have some very good points and some very valid information.

By hard work I mean a high level of conscious analytical effort - with self-trained systems of thought that know what to spot and where. This takes time to develop and discipline.

Having said this, if the average human was really interested in discovering the truth, they would have or would develop the ability be empathic to the intent of the writer and find the truth within. The reader should not have to be coerced into seeing a point of view, we should be able to make up our own minds on the facts - but we just don't live in this idealistic version of the world.

We spend so much time trying to babyfeed information to the masses in a hope that they will pick it up and gain an addiction to the truth - as we once did.

It's the writer's job to try and make the truth as plain to see as possible and to recognize and address any personal biases.

Another cause of this blindness to the truth (besides this tendency to box things in black and white) is that people are still so dependent on leadership to tell them what to do as 'approved authorities'. Many people still do not fathom that their government is not working within their best interests and so still blindly follow the narrative.

Again, it requires hard work to take self-responsibility to do your own research, to look outside of the box and to be independent. It takes someone willing to face a small amount of pain now, in order to avoid a greater pain later.

This to me is the dividing line between animal and human. The ability to pre-meditate or pre-strategize (a term I pulled from @perceptualflaws). When we can willingly face pain in preparation for calamity instead of waiting for the pain or time of pain to come to us before we deal with it - this qualifies us as being capable of being independent from the group mind that simply waits for shit to happen then reacts.

I am not making an 'us' and 'them' scenario. I am illustrating that the collective mind is an unconscious organism following a predefined path and those that wish to declare individuality from the collective must do so now and face the pain of doing so willingly.

For the moment, many things like this in this realm still seem grey. But in time, it will all become more clear as we enter more and more intense periods of this repeating cyclical point in history.

Monty

Thank you so much for that considered response!

You and @perceptualflaws both warn us of controlled opposition, and I am concerned that in my quest to find like minded people I might fall prey to one of those groups. Like you, I think us v them is not productive and that everyone has something of value to say.

I spend hours of every single day trying to find and then disseminate valid information, mostly and regrettably on FB where I regularly am called a kook. I use a few tools to determine if the info is valid, the first being the level of Trump hate. If there is any of that, I disregard the info and the source: The intercept, democracy now, young turks, salon - all those and more I do not bother with because so much of what they say is first filtered through hatefulness. Second, I gauge the level of Trump love. I'm much more open to love than to hate, but too much seems suspect - Trump is not the savior. Q has done some fabulous work, but filtered through Trump worship they can go far astray and now that they too are being derided on MSM, calls for Trump to disavow them, I can see that they too were set up. Third I have to rely on my own knowledge of world events, which is not extensive but is good enough to know when a whopping lie is being told, and there are a great many of these, especially whenever Ukraine is in the story.

I make a few assumptions, as few as possible. #1 Assumption is that the medical industry main line talk is nearly 100% false. Mainstream news is as well. Since mainstream media is controlled by the Rothschild family and medical info by the Rockefellers, I deduce the eugenicists are back, if they have ever been gone, and that they are much more powerful than ever before.

So now I understand that there is an evil entity, made up of a relatively few but very powerful negative frequency individuals, who use every event to turn minds to their will. It's not hard to see the hooey from this position, and to know what to do to protect myself for the immediate future, but it sure is hard to convey that it IS hooey to most people, and that's what must be done to protect us all in the more distant future.

So, I have alienated almost all of my real life friends, who are all "rah rah Harris/Biden!" both of whom turn my stomach. They are all "wear a mask or you are a neo-nazi white supremacist!" which alarms me. We are not far from becoming the Hutu and the Tutsi (not sure I got those names right, but folks in Rwanda in the 90's who were friendly neighbors one day and murderous neighbors the next) which I am now certain was just one of many test runs for the eugenicists who are at work doing the same thing globally today.

So I still have the question "what should/could I be doing?" Banging my head on the wall trying to turn eyes and obsessions away from Trump and toward the eugenics is getting me nowhere, or so it seems. Once in a while someone thanks me for being so vocal, and quietly tells me they agree. Is that enough?

Lastly, since I too would like to feel part of a group of some sort for the support that offers in these ridiculously difficult times, what do you think of the oracle girl?
