When it comes to order following, most people believe there is nothing wrong with it. That's why the military and police have so many supporters. There are so many bootleggers. They form the majority it seems.
So what type of mindsets are these people justifying the actions for? What is the mindset of these order followers that allows them to continue following orders?
One type of order follower is that which doesn't judge the order themselves. They do what they're told by their superior. No questions asked. I don't think and judge for themselves whether what they're doing, or being asked to do, is actually morally right or wrong. These would be the dumbest ones, the drones in the order following shitheads. They try to abdicate their personal responsibility for the actions they perform by abdicating their own capacity for thinking and judging.
The second type of order follower is a bit higher up in cognitive capacity because they do some thinking and judging. They believe that they've evaluated the commander order they've been asked to comply with, and have deemed it to align with morality. And then they choose to carry it out of their own free will, rather than simply obeying it like a mindless drone. These ones are more well-intentioned, but there still shitheads because they still follow the chain of obedience and perpetuate the system of following authority.
The third and last type of order follower would be those who are the most immoral because they choose to do actions that they know are immoral. They engage in thinking and judgment of the action they've been ordered to do, and when it's an immoral action they choose to carry it out anyway.
These three mindsets are why you have wars. This is why we have peaceful protesters being arrested, pepper sprayed, and beaten up or even murdered by people who just do what they're told, or enjoy escalating things into violence.
