I have one happy loud chirping cricket this year, anyone attempts to eat him will have blood on their hands!...lol. Usually I have to get my son to bring more over as the last few years I have been trying to bring them back to the city. At least my block. There use to be so many they'd drive you crazy but after years of not having any it sounds pretty good. I didn't even notice until a shooting happened a couple blocks over one year and the guy in the news interview said "twenty years ago all you heard at night was crickets"...that's when I realized that yeah they were missing. Right now he's out there chirping away being louder than the basketball players across the street.
I went through a vegetarian stage back in my late teens but got tired after a couple years of the limited food choices. Now they have more choices but you can't afford the stuff. All the hot dogs fed to us kids when we were little you'd think I'd done been expired a long time ago. I am not big on them as an adult and my kids never really cared for them growing up. They never liked peanut butter and jelly or macaroni and cheese either, a staple when we were kids...lol. I may be able to accept eating a bug or bugs in food, though I don't consider a maggot a bug, I wouldn't like that at all, I eat a lot of mushrooms, that I don't see but I think I'd have a real hard time eating what was an obvious bug.
About the lack of bugs in the trees - that has been happening for some time, I did a video a few years ago about how the insect populations were collapsing = hard to tell what is happening there, but most blame it on Monsanto - I like insects in nature, I just don't want to have them hidden in my food supply haha
It's like music to my ears right now, not just the one loud cricket but my son and grandson's surprised me with a jar full of crickets the other night when I was over there. Sounds like the call of the wild back there with them and all the other assorted night howlers...lol.
