The constant flow of contradictory information coming out of US officials is incredible to behold, and incredibly dangerous. They have completely butchered the response to COVID19 and these officials should be held responsible for exploding cases across the US.
People listen naively to the government believing that they're were being told the truth about what's going on. In a society that actually cared about their people's health and well being the response would have been much different and not the absolute disaster that is currently unfolding.
You're absolutely right about the 180 that Trump/Fauci/Surgeon General were saying back in January-March about masks. It's completely schizophrenic. It is propaganda and I would argue is purposefully being done to exacerbate the confusion and impact of the pandemic.
Just look at the reaction to the pandemic by smaller countries such as South Korea who took aggressive measures to control the spread. It's not perfect, of course, with contact tracing, civil liberties and with some flare ups here and there but overall it demonstrates a level of coordination, care and concern absent in some western countries that have been ravaged.
It also exposes the frailty and deep callousness of a private healthcare system that is completely unable to deal with pandemics. The average American cannot afford testing, much less treatment, most don't have health insurance and when they do it's attached to their employer (millions now no longer employed so they no longer have coverage), there's no national healthcare organization so that creates differences in quality, access and care throughout the country. It has sort of taken a backseat to wearing a mask or not wearing a mask - black and white either/or simplistic thinking. For me, I see that the entire response has been flawed from the get go and that the issue of masks have become a symbol of the frustration with the misinformation/disinformation provided to an already frustrated, fearful and exhausted public.
While we're preoccupied with the virus and masks, the destruction of the economy and the middle class is in full swing. Obscene wealth is being concentrated in fewer and fewer hands, stimulus funds are going to large corporations, 40 million Americans are out of work, the US treasury has merged with BlackRock and is printing and pumping trillions into the fake stock market, the list goes on and on.
I agree with your approach - we must question everything before permanent changes are implemented and rushed through that are unproven or even unnecessary.

Something that has struck me @jasonliberty provided in the OP is that none of this is a response to a virus. Neither the lockdowns, mandating vaccine, facemasks, or social distancing has resulted from the discovery of the SARS-CoV-2 virus in China in late 2019.
The virus is instead a tool that has been introduced to justify all these things.
That alarming response by China to the supposed outbreak was outrage theater. Welding people into apartment buildings, building walls across regional roads, the whole of it was provided to add to the papers coming from the Lancet, Nature, BioRxiv, and etc. that created the belief that we were in danger and the government had to save us.
Boris Johnson, Xi Jinping, and Trump have all played their roles, reading their assigned lines with consummate skill, for which they have been chosen to assume those roles.
It is with this reality in mind I must consider the closing section of the OP, in which @jasonliberty points out that eugenics will be undertaken soon by the investor class that has seized ownership of all the substantial assets in the world through this pandemic panic.
I am certain the forced vaccine will indeed cull the herd. No less than 20% of subjects injected with Moderna's vaccine had to be hospitalized due to the harm it did them. Trump has now ordered billions of doses of this vaccine, and it will 'distributed' by the USG as soon as delivery is received, starting in October, he says.

Indeed, a new 9/11 on a global scale. Took me a while to be convinced that every single aspect and part of this was.part of a well designed , carefully crafted, intricate plan, but at this point it is the only logical conclusion to my mind in which all the puzzle pieces fit together.

Indeed, and to add to the confusion, Fauci has more recently openly admitted that he “lied” to the American public in order to conserve masks for the health care workers. Strange these types think and expect that by admitting to lying, you will convince the people you are now telling the truth and should do what they say!!! If they lied then, they could just as well be lying now. They could easily have wanted to conserve masks not because they are effective, but because they were necessary to increase the fear factor for all the photo ops and msm propaganda, this was at the time all the fear-mongering coverage was taking place in hospitals with masked nurses being interviewed...
The people should at least question if believing an admitted liar without question or further research is wise when he turns around and demands you wear a mask. Apparently deception has become so commonplace and accepted that openly admitting it no longer ruins credibility (among those who accepted that credibility in the first place, at least)...
It’s truly mind-boggling the level of open deception and hypocrisy the propaganda has reached, and I for one am beginning to see absolutely none of this as a response, and all of it as intricately planned steps of a carefully planned operation. The only other logical conclusion seems to be that we have one of the most incompetent governments in the world, which I don’t buy for a second.
