The enemedia stories were probably paying to be shown in search results, is my best guess. This does reveal that DDG is no different than the other search engines, though, which is good to know.
The 'Indy Search Engine' you propose would be doing without grants from the CIA and other spooks pushing their narrative, whether through NED, USAID, InQTel, or other cutouts or fronts. I don't believe there is any 'authoritative' sources. I just think the spooks push the narrative with payment, however that payment is arranged. It could be tax credits, grants, direct payment, book deals, lower interest rates on home loans for directors of the boards of search engine corporations, free braces for the kids of corporate officers, or any combination - or it could be blackmail too. That's just how they work.
I bet the limited hangout people even get paid more, because they have to toe a delicate line between what is desirable to put out as a limited hang out, and stepping past that to revelations that are prohibited by the spooks. This is why attaining independence from the centralized supply lines of goods and services is how to get free of this corruption that is inflicted on us. When we make what we need outselves, we reduce profit margins overlords get from their investments in mass production of goods and services, and this decreases their ability to corrupt our government officials.

I know you are aware of these things because you have to be making use of them to surmount the challenges you face in New Zealand. I think a lot of people inherently use these techniques because they are good people, and good people create goodwill. Good people that realize it's how to get around blackmail, bribery, and bamboozling can do it on purpose, too.

Catherine Austin Fitts said a lot of things about bunkers as well - she believes that trillions have been siphoned off over decades and build bunkers underground (I think there is an elephant in the room here, but I don't really know what it is -in regarding the desire to go all in the bunkers)-- about Pella, I was wondering the same - that is probably what is happening - either way, the search engines now just don't function in the spirit of what a search engine is - but what they have done is reshaping the word to mean something else - which they do with everything these days - peace = hate etc., and war = good - anyway, people are moving away anyway and they can't control that -
about limited hangout people - alot of them are just devices for a limited hangout - and they don't even know it. Maybe I am as well - and I don't know it. That is the problem with the amount of propaganda - they know how to juice a story so people pass it along and they are spraying out stories so its sure to catch someplace) - with just enough truth in it to serve the hangout - the problem is there is so much propaganda, that I think its bringing down the system - people don't trust anything anymore - regarding the paid for limited hangout people from floor 7 etc., there are no doubt a good number of them. Although I think the last few years have turned people into human lie detectors - not really - but in that direction - people are turned off really quickly if the people talking are embracing the authoritative narrative - they are almost elegiac to it. This is of course the correct social immune response. If everything the mainstream told you was a lie - then you must reject everything they offer - its clearly poison.
About what you saying about not using CBDC - that is of course the answer to it, is not use them - but they will be pushed onto the people by force - like in Australian, you can't remove like 600 in cash from a bank without telling the bank what you are going to spend it on - something like that -the problem with a modern city is that most people don't produce anything - so they don't have the same exchange ability as people in the country - where I grew up, you could probably get by without buying anything - in fact our garden was massive - with had dozens of fruit trees etc., and it was not even a big section - we would exchange a lot of them, vegetables for other things - although back then an entire lamb, was $25 - my dad slaughtered it himself on the farm and then cut it up - but that was enough for a while. But yeah, what you are saying is overall correct, to not use them if possible and use other methods of exchange.
