I'd noticed some of the trends mentioned here as well. Some game developers hope that the name of a certain franchise carries a new installment, even if that installment is of poor quality.
I'm reminded of the fiasco around Bethesda with Fallout 76: they made an online multiplayer experience riddled with bugs, where there used to be an single player RPG of great quality (mostly carried by another game studio)

Must admit that I've never heard of this idea to stream games before. But if people are prepared to buy it, the industry will sell it. Supply and demand
