RE: Hyper-Realist Takeover

If you're trying to say we're all suffering from cognitive bias, I agree; it's much easier to believe that which confirms our own world-view. But if you're saying that we're therefore "hardwired" to believe BS, I'd have to disagree; if that were true, you and I wouldn't be having this conversation ;-) And I must admit that I don't really get the pill-bottle example...

Sort:

Howdy!
I was thinking this...
With the pill bottle, I'll use something else...
A BIC lighter has the company address (in US) as Shelton CT.
This is in rather small print...
Now if You have looked at these a lot.. And You look at one now, your mind will tell you Shelton CT., Before you read it.
Works the same way with people who want to believe B.S...
If you say something to them,
They are hard wired, and their mind will see B.S. and fill in some B.S. blanks, before they get any information,
Also if Your saying garbage they want to hear they will even embellish it, even though none if this may be true.
About our conversations...
Well it is like this sadly...
Mist "humans" do not think about "reality", at all.
Be it political, or esoteric, too dangerous!
Much safer to think about job, family, car payment, etc...
But not to question anything,
It is something they feel only the very reckless do...
Thanks again,
Have an Awesome Mid-Week!

it's much easier to believe that which confirms our own world-view.

That's why it's so amazing when someone is skeptical of "good news".
