Hola Senoras!
Welcome To Mi Blog😀!
Today, I inscribe an article whose #QOTW 10.7 has been dropped by the ecotrain community contest, without so much ado let's dive into it!
The main keywords in this topic are activist, inconvenience, and justified.
I will walk you through the precise meaning of these three keywords, for proper accuracy of thoughts.
Sometimes when you hear
Inconvenience is putting persons, communities, or society in a position that is not comfortable and when it stays for a while like that, it might be endangering the public. This is causing troubles or difficulties to the residents of that area or the public if that may be the case.
Everyone deserves the right to be heard in every way they can do that, might be through social media platforms, a rally, or a protest but how we do this matters a lot in society. There is every reason for an action, no one would wake up and decide to go for a protest without giving a concrete validation of what resulted in that act.
How Man A sees this is quite different from how Man B views it, so we should be careful on how we thread on things to avoid disaster and confusion amidst the dialogues or interaction.
In Nigeria for example, there was (happened in 2021) a series of complaints from the citizens that there's a constant embarrassment from this group of authorized personnel called SARS..(Special Anti-Robbery Squad) whose purpose of creation was to combat crimes associated with robbery, theft (motor vehicle theft), kidnapping and firearms.
You must be wondering what's with the embarrassment and complaints right?
So lemme say this straight, it's not a rumor, it's a fact!
I saw this myself and I felt that we aren't safe again, every move one is doing should be very cautioned and planned infact even your outfit for the day should be put into consideration before stepping out of the house, sounds weird right?!
Experience I had & Witnessed.
One hot afternoon, as I boarded a bus going to Mile 2 (precisely in Lagos) I plugged my earpiece into my cellphone to listen to music in my boom play application. We have moved over a couple of miles so I just stared through the window and placed my head on the metal connecting the window so that my stare would be longer as I have quite a journey to undergo. Until I spotted an annoying scene, I saw a police van which indicated S.A.R.S unit 19, then the next scene was so disturbing goodness me! I saw the officers harassing this young boy, striking him with the police baton on his head and forcing him inside the van, the young boy, on the other hand, yelling and saying, “ I didn't do anything, please leave me alone ” he was trying as much as he can not to enter the van! Everyone on the bus began saying things like;
- “ my kids are not safe anymore ”... passenger 1
- “ This has to stop for Christ's sake!! ”... passenger 2
- “ I can't be free to move around in my country, what a mess?! ”.... passenger 3
Of course, we know what they(SARS) are doing, trying to forcefully take money from them after putting them under so much pressure and allegations and sometimes even framing them (setting them up).
Once you are seen dressed up, looking good and rich in an outfit they just assume you have money or assume he is a fraudster or a businessman and extorts money from the victim.
One incident like that happened too on my way out but this time the victim called his elder sister and she came running Helter skelter and she raised an alarm and said...
“ over my dead body, would I allow you to put my brother inside your police car "....the only surviving son of my parents!.. Never!!
I was so disheartened and just shook my head knowing full well that I can't do anything about it.
This is still happening currently although the said authorities have been disbanded they operate secretly.
Now I would tell you what transpired and what led to their disbandment.
All this experience I said above is part of what led to their disbandment only that there were unnecessary shootings and killing sprees!...
It was indeed a gruesome event!
This all started happening during the fourth quarter of the year 2020, a SARS operating unit van would approach a neighborhood and pick up an innocent person and when that person disagrees to enter the van, they shoot at them instantly with no hesitation, this continued in so many parts of Lagos state and they get away with their crimes, you can relate as to when police ought to save lives and investigate theft and stop threat rather they're the one inflicting these atrocities on the citizens.
Everyone became so cautious of their activities and movements, things were limited and sometimes parents don't allow their son to go out, and even if they go out, they are bound to wear clothes that don't imply or shows that they came from a wealthy home to give false impressions that you can not get anything reasonable or valuable from this person.
Did you know that I would have been behind bars today for an offense I know nothing about, it was roughly around 7:36 pm, I was on the bus heading home after I did delivery, I was operating my phone inside the bus and chatting my friends when one man tapped me and said...
“ dem dey look you o, put your phone inside bag, driver drive fast!!! ”...
one of them suggested I move quickly to the backseat, which I did with no hesitation per se but was wondering what was happening??? I was just clueless. It was later that I found that police men in their van were chasing our bus because I was operating my cell phone, seriously????!!!
What were they thinking? huh?... I am not allowed to operate my mobile phone?
...what a country?...
These killings, shootings, and oppression continued in an escalating motion until there was an announcement via social media platforms like Facebook, Instagram, and most especially Twitter. Frankly speaking, I don't know who coordinated the summit for a protest which was tagged “End SARS protest".
This was majorly a peaceful protest you see, there was no atom of violence and the gathering was at the lekki toll gate since it was a peaceful protest where people would sing, chant, and raise placards, everybody assembled, and there was a large crowd. It was a two weeks protest that people volunteered to cook on the busy street where the roads were blocked, they fed themselves.
Some return after refreshing themselves at home and so forth! Everyone was in support but some people were scared of the retaliation they might receive.
From my calculations and observations, 75% of the general public was in support of the notion. And after all, this indeed came as a huge retaliation from the government that it took so many beautiful and innocent lives.
This happened on the 20th of October, 2020, a day and moment no one would forget in a hurry! A nation massacre, a mass murder!! I do not want to go into details but this retaliation came from the government, we lost many lives😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
To the extent that dead bodies were seized to avoid exposing their doings! There was a lament, wails, and cries as people lost their friends to an unending shooting spree. People fled for their lives!! To date the government claims that there were no deaths, Jeez!....this is upon a peaceful protest why the massacre????
...If you want to know more about this... check this out, want more information search google.
Note: The government has taken down so many stories to cover up their evil acts but we won't forget it! make some research if you want!
So my question remains...what if there was a violent protest? Would this massacre have occurred? Or would it be worse than this?
Finally, the activists who inconvenienced the public were justified because there's an end to the SARS operational activities. It was disbanded!
This protest emerged because people are perishing rapidly at the hands of people who were to save them. Whom shall we run unto, if not protest??
Thanks for reading my piece 🧩!
Is this not what they should have done at the beginning instead of killing innocent people? Our government just want us to take the tough ways to ask for our rights and when we do, lives are lost and before you know it, things are back to normal. Is that life? What about those who are dead? They sacrificed themselves. It's such a pity but at least the activists were justified.
Exactly 💯!
Just a waste of life!
And still put an end to the brutality, what's the need??

Your question remains same with mine
If not protest, to whom do we resort to?
To what method should we use since our government really doesn't care and not as if they care even with the protests but that is actually the much we can do
Beautiful piece
@dreemport
Indeed!
Most importantly, how do we confront issues that need a rethink in the society?
