I would like to see them used how they were in the past. More independent stores rather than chains, and more people actually shopping, not just "click and collect".
I don't think online shopping killed the high street, It only wounded it. The greed of the retail landlords delivered the killing blow. When stores were struggling they didn't show any understanding, they just kicked out their tenants and replaced them with a big money chain.
Where did that get them? Empty, boarded up stores.
