My bugout plans for the coming global crash and burn

If the world – by some odd random twist of fate – goes into spasm and convulsions and starts to collapse under some bizarre strain from external or internal sources, then it helps to have a plan of action. I’m sure you thought it would never happen in your lifetime, in your nation or on your watch, but times are changing and the future is uncertain, to say the least.

I have here a list of items that you might want to put into a “bugout bag” in case of emergencies. If for some reason you have to get out of town, or head for the hills, so to speak, then it pays to be prepared. Having a plan is crucial. Failing to plan is planning to fail, as they say.

My world has never been this uncertain under the dispensation of 2020 and 2021. So I have scouted out the terrain inland from my current seaside location, in order to have an escape route into the wilderness. I might need to hide from the criminals, the looters. Or I might need to hide from the government these days. It depends on which country you live in as to which social element is more dangerous to you personally. In my sunny South Africa it is both.

Inland to the desert we go

So my inland route takes me away from the busy coast and into the remote desert region, just inland over the coastal mountain pass. Most of the south of Africa is like Australia – desert or semi-desert. There are hardly any people around and lots of space filled with dry desert sand. I will feel much safer there, if any strange issues were to make my current life unsustainable of dangerous under any upheaval of any sort.

I recommend having a full tank or gas/petrol at all times. Then have your bugout bag ready at all times too. If you have your preparations completed, then it will be easy to make a move if you need to. Being a prepper used to be a fringe social pastime for odd conservatives but nowadays it’s crucial to have a backup plan as our normal life is gone, certainly here in my country and I presume also in yours.

Beaches are banned now in South Africa so desert it is

For example freedoms and human rights have been set aside under the new norm and current narrative. So your government will not be there for you in some countries any more. Nor will your social welfare net or even your capitalist paradigm. So it may be every person for themselves. If you have a community network, then all the better. Lone wolves may find it hard as they become targets. Unless you are fully prepared of course.

Here is a list of prepper items that are easy to obtain and you can never have too many of them for your survival kit:

aluminium foil, duct tape, plastic sheeting, bandages/plasters, bicarb, activated charcoal, batteries, vitamins, soap, rubbing alcohol, chapstick, rubber bands, cable ties, can openers, cotton wool, steel wool, salt, fishing line, asprin, candles, nail polish (preserve match heads, patch tent hole, start fires), sewing kit, paper clips, lighters, seeds, socks, ziplock bags, super glue

I’m sure you may have more items that you know are crucial. Please add them in the comments below and let’s create a good list of survival items for anyone anywhere at any time in case of emergencies.

Life is under a state of emergency now, certainly in my country, where we have a type of martial law or state of emergency where there is a curfew from 9pm – 5am nightly. Beaches are banned, gatherings are banned, normal life is gone. So I have my bugout bag ready in case the powers that be come door to door, for some or other reason. How are the parameters in your part of the world? I’m sure the new norm is leaving you ready bug out of life as you know it.

Will you be able to leave town and head to the desert or the hills if chaos arrives in your area? It could be social upheaval or climate disaster or perhaps government crackdown. All of these are possible now. It could be world war, communist takeover or any of the above. Have your plan of action ready. I have mine. It involves retreating to a rural area in the hinterland to meet up with like minded community where we can survive and be self-sufficient. The time is approaching.

Good luck man. Certainly doesn't sound good in South Africa at the moment.

Thanks buddy, yes it's getting to be an unsettling time here, though we could say it's a similar situation in numerous places globally.
