Off to the Ranch #21: Moving stuff | Organizing | Trail building

Heeeyho Readers! More updates from our little ranch!

It's late night and I'm beaten to hell.

Before I go to the ranch tomorrow for another round of hard work, I decided to post the latest update. I'm suddenly having teeny anxious moments and not really finding motivation to produce content, which then turns into more anxiety because... well.. it's my job. Sorry for the drama. This is the real life; not Instagram. Will get better.

On Off to the Ranch 18, I posted some cleanup updates showcasing the before and after of the backyard. There were still posts to remove, fire wood and other scrap planks in the way.

We removed everything out of the way — still sore of carrying those solid eucalyptus posts. Most of the planks are reusable and will remain stored somewhere else. I can safely bet that they'll be on the way of something else and we'll have to move everything again. That's how it is. {Laughs in pain}.

The below shot is the final result. We gained a heck ton of space! Go to Off to the ranch 18 to see how the area looked two weeks ago. Once the grass covers the land this "backyard" will be really cool.

After removing stuff our of the way

The picture below shows how the area was before moving all the stuff. Now we can remove the rest of the wooden fence and start building the new wire fence, that will cover the whole backyard. Dad is unsure if he'll build a new brick house of opt for a wooden chalet — that is up to him to decide, since it's his property.

Before

When I'm not helping Dad, I get my hands dirty on the bicycle trail. This time I cleaned and old path that goes over a huge boulder. Cyclists can now go over the boulder into the trail that goes down the property. Here's the before.

Before 2

In the photos it looks teeny, but don't get fooled. The boulder is quite huge and the terrain is super steep. Also, keep in mind that I'm not deforesting anything on our property to build bicycle trails; to the opposite, I'm cleaning a tangle of harmful branches that suffocate native trees (or whatever those are called).

After 2

The trail is, as it sits now, a 700m loop with a cool descend and a brutal ascend. It's definitely not for beginners. The idea is to keep expanding to form a XCC (mountain bike short track) circuit. I'll try to record some videos this weekend.

Well. This is it for today's update. This weekend we hope to make some more progress that I'll present as soon as I get back home.

Peace.

Look at all that wonderful green and blue!! Fresh looking vegetation and that blue sky. make me want to run barefoot around. (hopefully I won't step on a nail or shrapnel or something 😅)

hopefully I won't step on a nail or shrapnel or something

Hah! It's possible after all the scrap cleaning we did. The other day I felt something on my foot; it was a nail that kissed me through the shoes

So... you're making a self sufficient ranch for the upcoming apocalypse... 😄
Best move in these hard times...

Next step: Build a wall \o
Indeed, inflation is picking up here =/

How's everything over your end? Are you preparing?

We are dealing with inflation for forty years now, if not more, so nothing new to us. 😄
I hope our house in the village could help us if things get really ugly. But there's not much water there.

That's messed up. We've had massive hipper-inflation during the eighties, then they created a new currency and now it's ramping up again.
