More than 400 dead now in the floods and 1000 homeless after a fire.
So we went out to a farm to look at some autumn (fall) colors to settle our troubled emotions.
Recently a cyclone caused severe flooding in the KZN province of South Africa with many deaths and houses no longer existing in several mudslides. It is one of the worst catastrophes in South African history. Then a fire broke out leaving 1000 homeless in one of our townships here in the Western Cape Province. It seems that Mother nature is getting angrier day by day due to our mistreatment of her.
So to pacify our troubled souls we went out to a farm to view some beautiful colors.
Birds are a sign of health, clear water and much food, so that's why this Jackal Buzzard was cruising around looking for a rodent or a rabbit.
The grapes were harvested and now the land is resting and recuperating before the new grapes will sprout next spring season.
I have been on and on about the urgent matter of caring in my posts over time, but it's like talking to a wall. We have many successful generational farms over here and their management of nature is excellent as the farmers taught the value of nature to their children and workers over the years.
Without nature we can simply not survive, but we simply continue to pump toxic gasses into the atmosphere and forests are destroyed for human habitation, or farming enterprises. The oceans are littered with plastics and sea life is dying that should serve as warnings to us.
It is getting so bad that we will see many more severe incidents appearing unannounced and catching us all flat footed.
The time to stop is now, right now and we should all start to make a noise.
Just my Easter Monday rant here.

News of the floods and devastation has chilled most every SA heart, it’s been dreadful. Our land is so beautiful and, yes, we should care for it better. Beautiful pictures glowing with the warmth of autumn colors. Lovely ❤️😊🤔
Thank you for posting in the EcoTrain
So glad to see the people united in support my friend and it is indeed heart rending to see and read about. Maybe, just maybe this will give the government a wake up call.
Glad that you like the post and thank you kindly.

Yes it has been a costly week for some and my damage is limited and fixable thanks to the insurance. I expect assessors may not even come out this time as they have asked for photographs and quotes which is being done by a builder friend who is hoping for the contract.
Wow, I didn't know that you are in KZN. Luckily your damages are limited as there are some real bad things going on there. Great that you have a contractor connection.
Let's just hope that the sharks will not corrupt the disaster funding again.
This is my second house where we lived in before moving to Johannesburg. have builders renovating it getting it ready for sale and now this happened. Builder said it was good timing as we should score from insurance on some of the work now. Had too many things happen with this property over the years and has just been one big money pit.
Don't know about you guys in Johannesburg, but we are struggling here with the loadshedding.
We worked in Johannesburg for 17 years before we re-located down here to the Western Cape in 2018.
Beating a dead horse with a second home that is draining money and hopefully you will get a good sales price. The insurance payout should be a great benefactor towards the completion.

I think we are all struggling and having multiple times a day is challenging. I wish they kept to the schedule as one can plan around it if the times are right. My factory in Durban is struggling as we have set runs when making the product and cannot have runs broken up when load shedding starts. We have thrown hundreds of thousands of Rands away over the years and we would rather not run the machines.
The insurance people were at the house yesterday securing the perimeter wall for security purposes. We should score nicely from this as it looks as though our builder will get the go ahead to do the repairs/alterations.
I wonder how many people struggle with stop, start production runs. We freak over here when we are busy on the PC's as Marian is lecturer and she marks degree student exams, while I share my time between charity projects correspondence and Hive. Then suddenly the lights go and we are stopped mid sentence losing everything.
I will get a UPS at the end of this month.
You must be losing a fortune with your staggered production runs and I suppose that there is no insurance cover for you losses?
Let's hope that you builder get's the permission to go ahead, as just maybe it could be great windfall for you.
