Today I want to share with you the floods that are occurring in my municipality Catatumbo, Zulia state, as a result of the neglect that the hand of man has had with the sanitation of the Zulia river mainly.
Hoy quiero compartir con ustedes las inundaciones que se están presentando en mi municipio Catatumbo, estado Zulia, como consecuencia del descuido que la mano del hombre ha tenido con el saneamiento del rio Zulia principalmente.
Basically since the beginning of April has been accompanied by continuous rains throughout the southern area of the lake, one of the regions that is characterized by abundant agriculture and livestock are the municipalities Catatumbo, Colon, Francisco Javier Pulgar, among other surrounding and is surrounded by different rivers such as the Zulia River, which in turn flows into the Catatumbo River, at this specific point in both rivers meet and that is where the name of my population originates Encontrados./div>

Básicamente desde que inicio el mes de abril ha llegado acompañado de continuas lluvias en toda la zona Sur del lago, unas de las regiones que se caracteriza por abundar la agricultura y la ganadería son los municipios Catatumbo, Colon, Francisco Javier Pulgar, entre otros aledaños y que está rodeada de diferentes ríos como los son el río Zulia, el cual desemboca a su vez en el río Catatumbo, en este punto en específico ambos ríos se encuentran y es de allí donde se origina el nombre de mi población Encontrados.
Sometimes it is curious how the different climatic changes can affect us, since in times of drought, agriculture, livestock and fishing are seriously compromised, because the sown crops are affected by the scarcity of water, while milk production decreases due to the scarce green grass, in addition to the rivers tend to lower the water level and therefore fishing becomes more insufficient, in these days the economy decreases considerably, as these are the main economic activities of the region.
En ocasiones resulta curioso como los diferentes cambios climáticos nos pueden afectar, ya que en los tiempos de sequías, la agricultura, el ganado y la pesca se ven seriamente comprometido, debido a que los rubros sembrados les afecta la escases del agua, mientras que la producción de la leche disminuye por el escaso pasto verde, además que los ríos tienden a bajar el nivel aguas y por lo tanto la pesca se hace más insuficiente, en estos días la economía decrece considerablemente, pues estos son las principales actividades económicas de la región.
And when the rainy season begins, if they become continuous they can leave as much havoc as is currently happening in the municipality and all as a result of a meteorological phenomenon that is expanding from Colombia and different areas, because this time we are not being affected by continuous rains in the region, but rather those that are developing in Norte de Santander, Colombia, which will flow into the Zulia River and thus affect the different municipalities that are around it.
Y cuando inician la temporada de las lluvias, si estas se vuelven continuas pueden llegar a dejar tantos estragos como está ocurriendo actualmente en el municipio y todo como consecuencia de un fenómeno meteorológico que se está expandiendo desde Colombia y por diferentes zonas, pues en esta ocasión no nos están afectando las lluvias continuas de la región, sino más bien las que se están desarrollando en el Norte de Santander, Colombia, las cuales van a desembocar al rio Zulia y por ende afecta los diferentes municipios que están a su alrededor.
Another very important factor that could be considered a determining factor in river flooding is the lack of river maintenance, since we all know that they are the main recipients of the garbage that people without conscience and logical reasoning continually throw into the riverbeds, In addition to this, all the debris and remains of waste that are dragged by the rains and therefore are deposited in the different rivers and therefore are creating a continuous fertilizer, which brings as a consequence that with the passage of time and the lack of sanitation, these leave their channel and start with the respective floods.
Otro factor muy importante y se podría indicar que es determinantes en las inundaciones de los ríos es la ausencia del mantenimiento del mismo, pues todos sabemos que ellos son los principales receptores de la basura que personas sin conciencia y razonamiento lógico lanzan continuamente en sus cauces, aunado a ello todos los escombros y restos de desechos que arrastran las lluvias y que por lo tanto son depositados en los diferentes ríos y por ende van creando un abono continuo, lo cual trae como consecuencia que con el pasar del tiempo y la falta de saneamiento, estos salgan de su cauce e inicien con las inundaciones respectivas.
In addition to this, our municipality is protected by a retaining wall that has not been properly reinforced for more than 16 years since a strong flood occurred, which seriously affected the surrounding municipalities, including Colon and Catatumbo, since when it has been in danger again, they only use sacks full of mud to reinforce it and do not use the necessary machinery for this arduous work.
Sumado a ello nuestro municipio esta resguardado por un muro de contención que desde hace más 16 años que ocurrió una fuerte inundación donde se vieron seriamente afectados los municipios aledaños entre estos Colon y Catatumbo, no se le ha reforzado debidamente, ya que cuando se ha vuelto a ver en peligro solo utilizan sacos llenos de barros para reforzarlo y no emplean las maquinarias necesarias para este arduo trabajo.
It is unjustifiable that if Mother Nature has provided us with many benefits when she has needed the help of man's hand to control her ravages, they simply ignore it and wait until the most critical situation of the moment to start taking action.
No se justifica que si la madre naturaleza nos ha brindado muchos beneficios cuando ha necesitado la ayuda de la mano del hombre para controlar sus estragos, simplemente hagan caso omiso a ello y esperen hasta la situación más crítica del momento para comenzar a tomar acciones al respecto.
We can not simply analyze the consequences and therefore the serious damage that these floods bring mainly to nature, for the affected regions and the negative impact that in turn leaves in the nearby populations of small and large producers and the different species of animals that develop there.
Será que no podemos simplemente analizar las consecuencia y por lo tanto los graves daños que estas inundaciones trae principalmente a la naturaleza, por las regiones afectadas y el impacto negativo que a su vez deja en las poblaciones cercanas a pequeños y grandes productores y las diferentes especies de animales que allí se desarrollan.
It seems that Mother Nature continues to have no mourners, we only care about obtaining all its resources without taking into account the adverse effects that may originate in them, since it is important to highlight that from the rivers we obtain great benefits such as fishing and its fresh water that is used for agriculture and cattle breeding. However, in what way are we thanking them for their benefits, contaminating them by throwing different solid wastes and not carrying out the corresponding maintenance so that the water level does not go out of its course.
Simplemente la madre naturaleza al parecer sigue sin tener dolientes, solo nos importa obtener todos sus recursos sin tomar en cuenta los efectos adversos que puedan originarse en ellos, ya que es importante resaltar que de los ríos obtenemos grandes beneficios como la pesca y su agua dulce que es usada para la agricultura y la cría del ganado vacuno. No obstante, de qué manera le estamos agradeciendo sus beneficios, contaminándolo arrojando los diferentes desechos sólidos y no realizando el mantenimiento correspondiente para que el nivel de las agua no se salga de su cauce.
We can only put our hopes in a great and powerful God to have mercy on us, his children, and prevent the disaster from being greater in the different areas south of the lake. In the same way, may this serve as an awareness to value our mother nature a little more and give her the corresponding care to avoid future side effects.
Solo nos queda poner las esperanzas en un Dios grande y poderoso para que tenga misericordia de nosotros sus hijos y evite que el desastre sea mayor en las diferentes zonas del sur del lago. Del mismo modo, que estos nos sirva de concientización para valorar un poco más a nuestra madre naturaleza y darle los cuidados correspondientes para evitar futuros efectos secundarios

We are simply paying the consequences for our own mistakes against our beloved nature and for the neglect of the governmental entities in the maintenance of the rivers and the reinforcement of the walls.

Si, es lamentable que por descuido de nosotros mismos estén pasando estas inundaciones, ya que si se toman las previsiones necesarias no estaríamos pasando por esta situación tan terrible.
