I've been to that dark place about ten years ago. I had no body and it was darker than anything here on earth. Basically I was outside of space and time. After a while I realized I was dead and then a loud voice said "It's not your time", and I woke up back here in this time/space.
If I could be reincarnated though I think I would prefer to be some kind of animal, I'm always so envious of the freedom they enjoy.
