This is a very touchy subject for sure. I feel that the only way to rectify this ever growing problem is through education. Education in the way of birth control, adverse affect on natural resources, and the present problem with famine.
Giving an opportunity for the poor to gain valuable job skills would also reduce their need to have large families. Because of low wages, lots of hands are needed just to make ends meet.

The present world population stands at roughly 7.9 billion and is expected to grow to 9.9 billion by 2050. If this projection is correct, mankind as a whole will be in serious trouble.
