FRIENDSHIP WITHOUT BORDERS

Making a Korean friend of my age is something l love sincerely, our friendship would be full of laughter, stories, and plenty of cultural exchange. Friendship doesn’t care about borders at all once there’s a genuine connection, you’ll always find something to share and learn from each other. One of the first things I’d love to talk about with my Korean friend is everyday life. Am really eager to hear how a normal school or work day feels over there compare to Nigeria own here, how mornings begin, what kind of meals they enjoy during the day.

In return, I’d gladly share my Nigerian reality, the early morning rush to catch buses, the aroma of suya from roadside grills in the evening, and of course, the tradition of “Sunday rice” after church with family. I seriously want to taste real Korean dishes like kimchi, tteokbokki, and bibimbap, and then introduce my friend to Nigerian dishes like jollof rice, egusi soup, and puff-puff. Food has a way of breaking walls and creating memories.

Another thing l love to learn more about Korea is their traditions. I’ve always admired how bowing is such a natural show of respect there, and I’d be curious to know what it feels like growing up with that. In exchange, I’d share about Yoruba greetings back home, where respect is shown by kneeling or prostrating before elders. It’s amazing how two cultures, worlds apart, still place such high value on respect only expressed in different styles.

Another exciting area would be music and movies. K-dramas and K-pop have already found a huge audience in Nigeria, so it would be fun to hear my friend’s personal take on them, maybe even sing along to a few songs together. Such a friendship wouldn’t just be about fun talks only; it would be about creating respect and understanding between two cultures. And who knows? Maybe one day, I’d get the chance to travel to Korea, while my friend visits Nigeria so that the stories we shared could turn into real life experiences.
