The first time I heard about female mutilation I did not know exactly what it was about, but each time I heard more about the subject and the repudiation of many on this practice, which is known as ablation, I also saw the reaction of women in some countries where it was not mandatory and then for various reasons became so, so I decided to look exactly what it was and the consequences and what I discovered was not at all pleasant.
Now, I knew about the repudiation of this practice, what I did not know is that the United Nations World Organization (UN) declared February 6th the "World Day of Zero Tolerance to Female Genital Mutilation", but I think that in order to understand what this date is about, it should be explained what these mutilations imply.
Female genital mutilation or cutting (FGM) is a practice that consists in the alteration, injury or partial or total removal of the external female genitalia. This practice is carried out in order to eliminate sexual pleasure in women and ensure fidelity, considering cultural, religious or any other non-therapeutic reasons.
Types
There are four types of female genital mutilation:
Clitoridectomy: partial or total excision of the clitoris.
Excision: resection of part or all of the clitoris and lower labia.
Infibulation: removal of the clitoris and the labia minora and labia majora. After removal, both sides of the vulva are sewn together, leaving only an opening for menstruation and urine.
Other: piercing, incision, scraping or cauterization of the genital area.
This practice is a clear violation of the human rights of girls, young women and women, around the world which according to statistics is still being practiced in
30 countries in the Middle East and Africa, also in Latin America, as well as in migrant populations living in North America, Western Europe, New Zealand and Australia.
This practice is prohibited in many countries, but still continues with it, where it is performed by shamans or even doctors who have lent themselves to perform this custom or rite of passage, the problem is that this violation of human rights, is often performed without anesthesia, which in addition to causing immense pain, has caused death and other complications to many women such as tetanus, urinary retention, cysts, sterility and others.
For all this in 2012 the UN decided to create this date to make this reality known and to be the voice of thousands of women of various ages who have suffered from this mutilation, in addition to trying to give it a definitive stop, because if you investigate or look for images you will see that many of the traditional instruments used for this practice are little or no hygienic so they cause infections and many consequences, in addition to those mentioned above.
In summary, although female mutilation is a very old practice, dating back thousands of years, all women and men must join to fight against it, not only for the right of women to the full enjoyment of their bodies and that this type of practice is a form of violence against women and girls, also because of the consequences that this practice causes to many of them, it is an act from my wild vision, so I say goodbye waiting to read your impressions and opinions on this issue in the comments box.
La primera vez que escuche hablar de la mutilación femenina no sabía exactamente de qué se trataba, pero cada vez escuchaba mas del tema y del repudio de muchos sobre esta práctica, que se conoce como ablación, también veía la reacción de las mujeres en algunos países donde no era obligativa y luego por diversos motivos llego a serlo, así que decidí buscar exactamente de que se trataba y de las consecuencias y lo que descubrí no fue nada agradable.
Ahora bien, sabia del repudio por esta práctica lo que no sabía es que la Organización Mundial de las Naciones Unidas (ONU) declaro los 06 de febrero el “Día Mundial de Tolerancia Cero a la Mutilación Genital Femenina” , pero creo que para que se comprenda bien de que se trata este fecha se debe explicar que implican estas mutilaciones.
La ablación o mutilación genital femenina (MGF) es una práctica que consiste en la alteración, lesión o extirpación parcial o total de los genitales externos femeninos. Esta práctica se lleva a cabo con objeto de eliminar el placer sexual en las mujeres y asegurar la fidelidad, considerando razones culturales, religiosas o cualquier otro motivo no terapéutico.
Tipos
Hay cuatro tipos de mutilaciones genitales femeninas:
Clitoridectomía: escisión parcial o total del clítoris.
Excisión: resección de parte o totalidad del clítoris y labios inferiores.
Infibulación: extirpación del clítoris y de los labios menores y mayores. Tras la extracción se cosen ambos lados de la vulva, dejando únicamente una abertura para la menstruación y la orina.
Otros: perforación, incisión, raspado o cauterización de la zona genital.
Esta práctica es una clara violación a los derechos humanos de niñas, jóvenes y mujeres, alrededor del mundo la cual de acuerdo estadísticas aún se practica
30 países de Medio Oriente y África, también en América Latina, además en las poblaciones emigrantes que viven en Norte América, Europa Occidental, Nueva Zelanda y Australia.
Esta practica esta prohibida en muchos de los países, pero aun así se continúa con ella, donde la realizan chamanes o incluso médicos que se han prestado a realizar esta costumbre o rito de iniciación, el problema es que esta violación a los derechos humanos, se realiza muchas veces sin anestesia, lo que además de causar un dolor inmenso, ha causado la muerte y otras complicaciones a muchas mujeres como por ejemplo tétanos, retención de orinas, quistes, esterilidad entre otros.
Por todo esto en el año 2012 la ONU decidió crear esta fecha para dar a conocer esta realdad y ser la voz de miles de féminas de diversas edades que han sufrido de esta mutilación, además de intentar darle un freno definitivo, ya que si investigan o buscan imágenes verán que muchos de los instrumentos tradicionales usados para esta practican son poco o nada higiénicos por lo que ocasionan infecciones y muchas consecuencias, además de las mencionadas anteriormente.
En resumen, aunque la mutilación femenina es una practica muy antigua, que data de hace miles de años, todas las mujeres y también los hombres debemos sumarnos para luchar contra ella, nos solo por el derecho que tienen las mujeres al pleno disfrute de su cuerpo y a que este tipo de practica es una forma de violencia contra mujeres y niñas, también por las consecuencias que ocasiona esta practica a muchas de ellas, es un acto desde mi visión salvaje, así me despido esperando leer sus impresiones y opiniones sobre este tema en el cajón de comentarios.

Unfortunately, this archaic practice is maintained in several continents of the world, and has been growing, even with all the efforts that have been made to inform, educate and make the population aware of the negative implications of this practice. Thank you very much for your valuable and motivating comment, it is a terrible practice I knew that it was to mutilate genitals, but to see the date created around it and therefore investigate a little more the types of ablation, the reasons and consequences I felt terrible for those women and girls who have been victims of this practice, these things must be made known to achieve curb them.
Education and information are necessary to shed light on these dark corners of humanity, and this is one way to do it, by making these practices known.
