1️⃣ What's the best advice you've ever recieved from a strong woman? Describe a strong female character who inspired or inspires you.
Hello everyone, I welcome you to my blog. I am excited to participate in this prompt #260
When we talk about what the word “a strong woman” stands for, I understand it as a woman who knows when to say no and yes. A woman who chose peace instead of chaos and disputes. A woman who loves with all her heart but respects people's boundaries. A woman who chose to work smart, to earn a living instead of being a liability and a lazy baboon.
A woman who stands up for her rights, speaks up for others where needed, and yet is humble and obedient to the core. A woman who believes that she can and will not give up easily. She makes lemonade with the lemons the world throws at her and keeps pushing through thick and thorn until victory is hers. This is my kind of strong woman.
And yes, I found this strong woman in my elder sister. She lost her husband in her early years of marriage, but that didn’t stop her. After that sad event, she became the pillar of her children's home. A strong woman with six children. Five graduates, with the last in high school. After her husband’s demise, she lost interest in marriage because she could not find a soul mate like her husband, yet that did not stop her from standing strong for her family.
She also serves as the eldest daughter (ADA) in our family; that loss did not stop her from executing her responsibilities in our family, as she is not found wanting anytime duty calls.
I used to be someone that is judgmental. I do not give a second thought or think deeply about things before I make conclusions. That always put me on edge with people. I also end up making wrong decisions all the time.
One day, my friend offended me deeply, and I cut all ties with her. I blocked her on all channels of communication and refused to listen to her pleas. At some point, I decided to share the challenge with my eldest sister. In her words “Nasa, never judge a book by its cover, always give it time before you decide”. Forgiveness is not an act of weakness but of strength. It is a way of loving beyond the wound. Nasa, allow your scars to tell your stories of strength.
After that conversation with her, my life never remained the same. I went home and had a true reflection on her words, the character of the person who just spoke to me, and my journey so far in life. That reflection transformed and repositioned me for a better version of my life.
Furthermore, I continued to work on myself, reshaping my mindset and recreating my way of thinking and decision-making process. Ever since that day until now, that statement from her has guided me in my life's journey. Her resilience, character, and personality have assisted me in becoming the woman I am today.
