Do you prefer working from home or going to the office? Why?
Hello #ladiesofhives, I am excited to be participating in this week’s prompt amidst the scarcity and scourge of fuel prices in my country and the confusion it's causing everywhere. While the labour union of different companies is in a dilemma about what to do. Some are using the situation to make strategic business moves and cash out quickly.
At The Office
Right now, some companies have reverted to working from home, some have chosen the hybrid option, while others are still insisting on full on-site work. This has torn some unions and management apart, while others are unitedly pushing for humane decisions that are changing the workplace and making it more comfortable and interesting to navigate.
I have been hooked between the three options. Working from home, a hybrid option where I report to the office for three days and work two days from home. This is where the onus lies. So, when I am asked to choose between working from home and going to the office, all things being equal, I prefer going to the office. If there is no chaos and fuel scarcity, I prefer working from home, and I have my reasons.
Thank God Is Friday Activity At The Office
First, I feel bored working from home. Once I work from home, I feel less active, thereby making me dull and sleepy. Even when I try to use music to distract and stabilise, I find myself sleeping off intermittently.
Secondly, I eat a lot and feel fatigued. When I go to the office, I have limited access to food; therefore, I eat less. Again, I spend more when I work from home because I burn more fuel recharging my laptop and doing other things, but when I work from the office, I turn off our prepaid meter and save energy until we are back in the evening.
Third, I miss my colleagues and real-time monitoring, counseling, and data collection. For example, when I am not on duty, there are many data manipulations such as attendance clock-in, factory overtime, and shift allowances. At that moment, it is a free-for-all fight. It takes time to sieve and clean the data before I can confidently use it to run payroll.
Furthermore, most females in our estate are either housewives or shop-owners; they have a community gossip centre that I detest. Because of this, I prefer going to work to avoid stories that touch.

Nevertheless, when going to the office is riskier than working from home, I automatically switch to working from home. Prevention is better than a cure.
In conclusion, I prefer working from the office, but when situations demand that I work from home, I automatically switch to that mode. Flexibility is the bottom line. As professionals, we don’t have to be rubber-stamp individuals in decision-making
