The recent Sunday was a fun one for me. I achieved one of my goals for 2026 and also enjoyed it so much, I am hoping to make it a regular thing, maybe not weekly, but 2–3 times a month (weather-dependent). This is also helping my weight loss.
The big thing I did was Go on a hike
If you are a regular visitor to my blog, you may have seen a Strava post on Sunday. Well, this is the big follow-up to that, featuring the story, photos and some insight.
Cromer, Norfolk UK
It was an early start on a Sunday morning. We got the train to the coast, my friend and I were tired from getting up early, but we were both very excited for what was ahead. The train ride was very nice, we were busy charging our devices, studying and reading books, and within 40 minutes we had reached our destination. A beautiful place called Cromer. Cromer, a seaside town in North Norfolk one of the best beaches to visit in Norfolk. After leaving the train, the station itself is very close to the beach, but first we got a black Americano coffee and a meal deal sandwich, as being Sunday, we couldn't find an open shop near the train station back home. After that, we headed to the Pier and began our long hike.
For many people, the Cromer to Sheringham walk is more popular, as it offers stunning views and is only a few miles long. Still, with this being a very warm and sunny day and wanting A long hike, we opted to hike the other direction and go from Cromer all the way to A smaller place called Mundesley. A place I have not visited before, looping back to Cromer.
We didn't really plan the route, but in the United Kingdom, we have very good Coastal paths, and to my knowledge, the official Coastal path does almost cover the entirety of England. We also had no goal in mind; we just wanted to hit at least 15km to make it a worthwhile hike as we travelled to get here. We knew we wanted to walk to Mundesley, but we did not measure or comprehend the distance properly, we just wanted to be done by sunset. We did know we would need to end the hike back at Cromer to catch the train, as we brought return tickets.
The Hike went perfectly well with no issues. We walked, talked, captured moments and even messed around on some sections as we got a little lost along the cliffs. I got those wide coastal views and big open skies, with the breeze hitting a bit but not too much. It’s the kind of walk where I can just switch off and take everything in at my own pace.
Upon arriving in Mundesley, we knew we wanted Fish and chips long before we set out on the hike, so upon arrival, we already had a place in mind that featured a nice beer garden seaside view, as the chip shop was linked to the pub. Also, a great name or names, I should say, with the chip shop being called The Catch and the pub named The Ship Inn
Sadly, I didn't capture many photos here, and we quickly ate our fish and chips and consumed our water before beginning the journey back. This time, opting to stay on the sand more as the tide had moved out, and more sand was revealed, unlike in the morning, when we had no choice but to stay high in the cliffs.
Eventually, we made it back to Cromer. After just over 5 hours of hiking and a nice distance of 27.08km, we stopped our watches, rushed into the supermarket next to the train station to grab more water before boarding the train to take us back to Norwich.
I am so happy to tick off one of my 2026 goals, and what a way to do it. My longest walk before this was only around 10km, so to hit almost 30km, I was so happy, and honestly, I am itching to do another one.

Yeah, the weather was great considering the recent weeks of weather and time of year.
Yes I believe it is, although I don't think there was any work carried out as the Norfolk coast has had always been here travelling via cliff tops and country roads.
That's quite a trek. Walking by the sea can be nice for the views if the weather is good. Maybe you can try to cover different sections of the coast over the year.
I've been camping around that area years ago, but not been back recently. It's not too far from us really, but we are about as far from the sea as you can be in the UK.

We camped at Kelling Heath and walked to the tank museum. Did a lot of camping with the kids.
