I have to learn a new skill under intense pressure because of my mother, my cousin sister and their habits of sewing my clothes at the very last minute. I will give them cloth, money and tell them when I will need it. Every important event, church, wedding, family gathering, and Thanksgiving always come with a panic. They will start sewing it when it's late, maybe a day to the event and there will be an error. Neither the cloth will be oversize, nor undersize, too tight or zipper stuck. With no time to fix things properly, frustration, anger, quarrels will fill the house, and I am the one that will be left angry and stressed.
One day after another rushed sewing disaster, I just realized I can't keep depending on their timing. Out of pressure and necessity, I just decided to learn sewing. It wasn't easy, but I made it, I had my struggle with thread and needle, to make a straight line. I had zero room for patience because deadlines were always closing. I understand the struggle.
Consistency under pressure taught how to be faster than comfort ever could. Gradually I was able to measure well, fix simple errors and sew simple but basic outfits on time. Learning to sew shows me that pressure can become an unexpected teacher. In the end I didn't learn sewing because I wanted to but because I just wanted to be able to make my clothes on time, but I ended up becoming independent and gaining a useful skill.

This is the perfect definition of killing two birds with a stone. I can only imagine your frustration when you expected to get your clothes all fixed up and ready to wear but rather, met with a different story.
That was smart of you to think of getting your clothes done by yourself rather than depending on others and getting disappointed repeatedly.
