Hey everyone!
I know, I know, I’m late to the party. I meant to post this last June 18th for my 8th year on Hive (I know, right? EIGHT years!), but life had other plans… again.
So here's the quick update:
I quit my old job. Finally rested. Properly. After burning out real hard. Then surprise blessing from the Dark Lords, I landed a new one. Still remote (because I can’t do traffic or co-workers with loud chewing sounds), and with better pay, a better schedule, and instant promotion. Sometimes you just know when it’s time to turn the page.
Here’s hoping I’ve gained a bit more patience this time around. Time to mask up again because me and Diablo can’t afford to be too diabolical. Therapy is non-negotiable at this point. Lots of it.
As diablo reminds me daily with his judgmental stares.
Btw, here’s me and Diablo in our fantasy selves... thanks Ai Chad!

🎴 Now Playing: ROVE - My New Solo Puzzle Obsession
Since I’ve got some downtime before starting the new job (next next week!), I’ve been diving back into my card games and right now, I’m completely hooked on this tiny-but-mighty solo game called ROVE.

What is it?
ROVE stands for Results-Oriented Versatile Explorer, basically, you’re piloting a cute-but-functional modular robot that’s just crash-landed on a hostile alien planet. Your mission? Reconfigure your robot’s modules to survive a series of seven increasingly tricky objectives. It's all about positioning, movement efficiency, and a little bit of luck.
Now, don’t let the 18 cards fool you, this game is deceptively complex.
You start with a set of 6 module cards laid out in a 2x3 grid. Each module has unique movement limitations (marked with little directional arrows) and one powerful special ability. Your goal is to arrange the modules into specific patterns shown on the mission cards, and trust me, the longer you survive, the harder it gets.
(forgive the dusty table lol)

You’re given a finite number of movement points to shift things around. Once those are depleted, your only option is to activate a module’s ability which you can only do once per game.
Fail to match the mission pattern?
Game over. You crash. You burn. You scream softly into your pillow.

Looks like I'm not winning this... ugh.
I’ve been playing this for days now, curled up while the rain taps on the windows, with Diablo curled up nearby in full loaf mode. I haven’t won a single session yet and that’s saying something, coming from someone who usually rocks solo puzzles.
But I love it. The challenge. The strategic tension. The moment you realize you’ve backed yourself into a corner and can’t move another card unless you sacrifice a power you were saving for the final mission... ugh. Beautiful pain.
If you’re into portable games that don’t take up much space but seriously make your brain work, I highly recommend giving ROVE a try.
Just don’t blame me when it starts haunting your dreams. 😅
Happy anniversary! How fast time flies...
Yesss and we're still here yey!
This game would make us appreciate what the Mars Rover Perseverance Team carefully plan out all the actions of this drone unit far in advance making the best possible use of resources in acquiring as much data as possible.
Keeping in mind that this project has so far cost $2.7 Billion USD.
On a darker note, I've acquired this used card game. I have yet to subject this on my kids. I'm wondering if you have tried this.

That’s such a cool perspective definitely makes you appreciate the insane level of planning behind something like the Mars Rover. 😮 And wow, $2.7B...
As for Gloom, I haven’t tried it yet, but it looks really promising! I love the artwork! So delightfully dark and quirky. I’ll definitely check it out. Curious to see how your kids handle all that, well… gloom. 😄
