Nuevamente regreso esta semana al concurso de Ladies of hive con preguntas bastante interesantes. Sin embargo, en esta ocasión respondo solo una… ¡empecemos!

¿Cuál es tu cuento de hadas favorito y quién es un personaje de cuento de hadas en tu propia vida?

Para mí las películas de princesas son bastante significativas porque siempre luchan por lo que quieren, no dejan llevarse de comentarios absurdos y se trazan metas que en su mayoría consiguen. En este caso, mi cuento de hadas favorito se refleja en la película “La princesa y el sapo”, trata de una niña llamada Tiana que desde su infancia soñaba con abrir su propio restaurante pues siempre cocinaba deliciosos platillos con su padre y se prometen tener juntos un restaurante. Todo cambia cuando su padre muere en combate, ella decide trabajar dobles turnos como mesera para no romper aquella promesa. Ese anhelo se pausa cuando, decide besar a un sapo -Naveen- convirtiéndose en rana y debe deambular por los pantanos de Louisiana. Ahí, entre anfibios y lanchas, ella y sus nuevos amigos aprenderán algunas lecciones. Me encanta esta historia porque esta vez no es la típica princesa Disney, más bien presenta a una mujer de clase media que no vive en un castillo ni aspira a tener alguno, de hecho, este relato no ocurre en algún momento imaginario ni en un lugar muy, muy lejano.

For me, princess movies are quite significant because they always fight for what they want, they don't make absurd comments and they set goals that they mostly achieve. In this case, my favorite fairy tale is reflected in the movie "The Princess and the Frog", it is about a girl named Tiana who since she was little dreamed of opening her own restaurant because she always cooked delicious dishes with her father and they promise have a restaurant together. Everything changes when her father dies in combat, she decides to work a double shift as a waitress so as not to break that promise. That longing stops when he decides to kiss a toad -Naveen- that turns into a frog and must wander through the swamps of Louisiana. There, among amphibians and boats, she and her new friends will learn some lessons. I love this story because this time it is not the typical Disney princess, rather it presents a middle class woman who does not live in a castle or aspire to have one, in fact, this story does not occur in some imaginary moment or in a far away place

Con todo esto, la chica no espera a ser rescatada y el amor de pareja no es su prioridad, no se guía por las apariencias y de hecho, conoció al príncipe— sapo— con bolsa en la papada y lengua larga. Gracias a su persistencia, logra tener su restaurante, ahora acompañada de su pareja, pero siempre tuvo la visión de ser ella, tener lo suyo y trabajar por ello, sin creer en hechizos o galanes que aparecen para resolverlo todo.

With all this, the girl does not wait to be rescued and love as a couple is not her priority, she is not guided by appearances and in fact, she met the prince -toad- with a bag on his chin and a long tongue. Thanks to her efforts, she manages to have her restaurant, now accompanied by her partner, but she always had the vision of being her, having hers and working for it, without believing in spells or gallants that appear to solve everything.

Indudablemente esta película me recuerda a las mujeres de mi familia, pero en especial a mi hermana y mi mamá. Ellas son mujeres polifacéticas que tienen ese equilibrio entre perseverancia y trabajo honesto a pesar de las adversidades. Al igual que Tiana, con mucho esfuerzo cumplieron sus objetivos y hasta el día de hoy siguen trazándose metas que, sé que cumplirán. ¡Son mi ejemplo a seguir!

Undoubtedly, this movie reminds me of the women in my family, but especially of my sister and my mother. They are multifaceted women who have that balance between perseverance and honest work despite adversity. Like Tiana, with a lot of effort they met their goals and to this day they continue to set goals that I know they will meet. They are my role model!.

A more realistic portrayal of typical life and the resolve of a gal that wants to do her own thing. Self reliant and resourceful, kind of like myself too under necessity. But, nothing wrong with asking for help when things become overwhelming.
