I agree with you that beauty is relative, what's beautiful to me may not be to you and vice versa.

Apart from our programming since birth, it might be that the influence of commercials and media is so strong especially during these recent years that is making people rave more about beauty and stuff.

Exactly. This is what matters and it is beyond the physical attributes of a person.
