Hello Hive family!
My name is Oni Blessing Oluwafemi, a proud Nigerian from Ekiti State, currently based in the vibrant city of Ibadan. I’m 21 years old, a Christian by faith, and an individual whose heart beats passionately for music, creativity, and purpose.
I come from a close-knit family of six, where I am the third child. Growing up in such an environment has shaped my sense of togetherness, love, and resilience. I’ve always believed that every person is a reflection of the values they carry from home — and for me, that’s honesty, faith, and perseverance.
When I’m not studying or singing, you’ll likely find me doing one of the things I love most: traveling, meeting new people, and spending time with children. There’s something refreshing about being around kids — their innocence and joy remind me to keep a pure heart and a hopeful spirit.
As for my taste buds — nothing beats a well-prepared plate of pounded yam and egusi soup! It’s my all-time favorite meal and a proud representation of my Yoruba heritage.
My journey into music started long before I knew I would study it. As a little girl, I found myself captivated whenever I watched people sing — whether it was in church or on television. I would sing along passionately, not realizing that I was nurturing a gift that would later define my purpose. During my secondary school days, I began writing and composing my own songs. Although I paused for a while, that passion never left me — it was only waiting for the right time to blossom.
Before entering the university, I went through a season of uncertainty. I wasn’t sure what I truly wanted to study, and that indecision affected me for a while. I even had to make two admission attempts before finally realizing what my heart had been saying all along — Music is where I belong.
Through patience, prayer, and determination, I was eventually admitted into the prestigious University of Ibadan, often called “The First and The Best.” That moment marked a new chapter for me — not just academically, but spiritually and creatively. Studying music at this level has opened my eyes to new possibilities and reaffirmed my belief that God’s timing is always perfect.
Before gaining admission, I also learned the skill of hairstyling, which taught me creativity and independence. That experience built in me a strong work ethic and a love for expressing beauty — not just through sound, but through artistry in every form.
As a chorister in my church, I find deep joy in using my voice to worship God and touch lives. I draw inspiration from amazing ministers such as Dunsin Oyekan, Nathaniel Bassey, Simisola (Simi), and Mercy Chinwo. Their dedication to purpose and authenticity continues to motivate me to grow, not just as a musician, but as a vessel of light.
My favorite quote that I live by is:
“I am not what happened to me; I am what I choose to become.”
This statement reminds me daily that our past doesn’t define us — our choices, faith, and persistence do.
Today, I see myself standing at the threshold of a great journey — one that I believe will impact many lives through music. This is only the beginning of my story, and I’m trusting God to take me further than I can imagine.
In everything you do in life, never give up on your dreams. Keep pushing, keep believing, and keep growing — because with faith and determination, everything is possible.
