Un afectuoso saludo a los miembros de esta comunidad donde me presento por primera vez, y lo hago con la siguiente propuesta, espero la disfruten.
Tengo una amiga que ha sido enfermera durante 25 años, sin embargo, los salarios de salud pública en mi país son tan mínimos que muchos profesionales han dejado sus oficios y sus puestos en hospitales, policlínicos y demás, para irse a trabajar en negocios particulares.
Este es el caso de mi amiga Zucel, que a pesar de haber sido una excelente enfermera durante toda su vida y amar mucho su profesión, se ha visto obligada a desistir por asuntos económicos. El costo de la vida subió mucho en el mundo entero después de la pandemia de la covid-19 y Cuba no es la excepción.
Como enfermera, mi amiga ganaba 6000.00 pesos mensuales, salario que apenas alcanzaba para una ínfima parte de sus gastos personales y hogareños.
Por azar, un buen día recibió una propuesta de trabajo en un negocio particular donde le pagarían 15,000 pesos mensuales, pagos por utilidades, ventas de equipos electrodomésticos a precio de costo y otras ventajas.
Primeramente dudó en aceptar porque en realidad ama mucho su profesión, pero la realidad de la vida nos lleva a olvidar un poco el "romanticismo", a ser pragmáticos y poner los pies en la tierra.De manera que no lo pensó más y acepto la propuesta.
Hoy mi amiga lleva tres meses trabajando como dependienta y recibiendo una recompensa justa y merecida por su trabajo. Su economía personal y la de la casa han mejorado en un gran por ciento y y se siente muy feliz con la decisión que tomó.
Trabaja en un lugar tranquilo con aire acondicionado y con un régimen de dos días de trabajo y dos de descanso. Así que tiene tiempo para organizar su vida, hacer los quehaceres del hogar y de vez en cuando, por qué no, dar un paseo con su esposo y con sus hijos.
Es cierto que los cambios asustan, pero este, era necesario. En estos momentos, mi amiga se siente una mujer importante, fuerte, independiente y sobre todo muy segura. Y aunque a veces extraña su vida en el hospital y a sus pacientes, reconoce que han sido más los beneficios que las pérdidas, porque hoy se siente como debió haberse sentido hace muchos años, una mujer empoderada.

I have a friend who worked as a nurse for 25 years. However, public health salaries in my country are so low that many professionals have left their jobs and positions in hospitals, polyclinics, and other facilities to work in private businesses.
This is the case of my friend Zucel. Despite having been an excellent nurse all her life and deeply loving her profession, she was forced to quit due to financial reasons. The cost of living rose sharply worldwide after the COVID-19 pandemic, and Cuba is no exception.
As a nurse, my friend earned 6,000 pesos per month—a salary that barely covered a fraction of her personal and household expenses. By chance, one day she received a job offer from a private business offering 15,000 pesos monthly, profit-sharing bonuses, appliances at cost price, and other benefits.
At first, she hesitated to accept because she truly loves her profession, but life’s realities force us to set aside a bit of "romanticism," to be pragmatic and plant our feet firmly on the ground. So she didn’t think twice and accepted the offer.
Today, my friend has been working as sales assistant there for three months and is finally receiving fair and deserved compensation for her work. Her personal finances and household economy have improved significantly, and she feels very happy with her decision.

She works in a peaceful, air-conditioned environment with a schedule of two days on and two days off. This gives her time to organize her life, handle household chores, and—why not?—occasionally take walks with her husband and children.
It’s true that change can be scary, but this one was necessary. Right now, my friend feels like an important, strong, independent woman—and above all, very self-assured. Though she sometimes misses her life at the hospital and her patients, she acknowledges that the benefits far outweigh the losses. After all, today she finally feels what she should have felt many years ago: like an empowered woman.

that is a big raise in money indeed , but sad to see that nurses get paid so badly , my wife is also a nurse in an elderly home , but we are able to do what we like to do with her salary.

Operating a retail store is quite different than caring for patients as a Nurse.
I was a Nurse for a little over satisfying 25 years and I can't imagine making such a change, yet my health has now forced me to retire.
