Hello girls! It is a pleasure to be back in this beautiful community to participate in the challenge of the week and answer the questions posed by our friend @kaerpediem about the needs for electricity or water and about a fictional character that we would like to meet. This is my entry.
Hola chicas! Es un placer estar de nuevo en esta hermosa comunidad para participar en el reto de la semana y contestar las interrogantes que nos plantea la amiga @kaerpediem sobre las necesidades de luz o agua y sobre un personaje de ficción que quisiéramos conocer. Esta es mi entrada.
1-. Would you rather go without water or electricity for a week?
The issue of water and electricity seems interesting to me since in this challenge we can know the situation of many friends and how they live, in my case the question makes me want to talk to them about the situation that we live in Venezuela precisely with water and electricity . Honestly, it is not pleasant that you lack one of the two, without water we cannot live and without electricity life is a bit miserable, and no human being should live without them. I confess that I know what it is like to have no water and not have electricity, but not having water is the worst thing in the world and even more so when you have children. How do you quench their thirst? How do you feed or clean them? It's really sad. At this time in my town we do not have water service, this service arrives every 40 days or more and that is why we must supply ourselves and fill tanks and containers, we also have to take good care of it and that implies putting it to good use. A water truck can cost more than $ 20 and not all families can afford it to get water. There have been occasions where the water that comes through the pipes is dirty, can you imagine that? So I think no one can live without her for a single day.
El tema del agua y de la electricidad me parecen interesantes ya que en este reto podemos conocer la situación de muchas amigas y como viven, en mi caso la pregunta me hace querer hablarles de la situación que vivimos en Venezuela precisamente con el agua y la electricidad. Sinceramente no es agradable que te falte uno de los dos, sin agua no podemos vivir y sin electricidad la vida es un poco miserable, además ningún ser humano debe vivir sin ellos. Les confieso que se lo que es no tener agua y no tener electricidad, pero no tener agua es la peor cosa del mundo y más cuando tienes hijos. Cómo calmas su sed? Cómo los alimentas o los aseas? Es realmente triste. En este momento en mi pueblo no tenemos el servicio del agua, este servicio llega cada 40 días o más y por eso debemos abastecernos y llenar tanques y contenedores, también tenemos que cuidarla mucho y eso implica darle un buen uso. Un camión de agua puede costar más de 20$ y no todas las familias lo pueden pagar para abastecerse. Han habido ocasiones dónde el agua que llega por las tuberías esta sucia, se imaginan eso? Entonces creo que nadie puede vivir sin ella ni un solo día.
And on the other hand we have power cuts of up to 12 continuous hours in the worst cases, in Venezuela we are without electricity at least 2 hours a day in different areas since we are experiencing an unusual situation regarding this issue. In my home we are used to it but how sad it is to get used to the bad. My daughters say: "again without light, Mommy, it doesn't matter", for them it has become normal to have to sleep with heat, not being able to watch television or use anything in the house and of course this makes us have emergency lamps for everyone sides. It is exhausting and desperate not to have these services but it can certainly be a different experience to live without electricity for a week, since without water it seems impossible.
Y por otro lado tenemos cortes eléctricos hasta de 12 horas continuas en los peores casos, en Venezuela nos quedamos sin electricidad al menos 2 horas diarias en diferentes zonas ya que vivimos una situación insólita con respecto a este tema. En mi hogar estamos acostumbrados pero que triste es acostumbrarse a lo malo. Mis hijas dicen: "otra vez sin luz mami, no importa", para ellas se ha vuelto normal tener que dormir con calor, no poder ver televisión ni usar nada en la casa y por supuesto que esto nos hace tener lámparas de emergencia por todos lados. Es agotador y desesperante no tener estos servicios pero sin duda puede ser una experiencia diferente vivir sin electricidad una semana, ya que sin agua me parece imposible.
2-. Which fictional character would you like to meet and why?
This question made me think a lot about why. But I went back to my childhood sweetheart and that's why I wanted to meet Harry Potter. I read his books when I went to school and I grew up watching his movies, I still watch them and I wish my daughters would like them too. This boy magician seems to me such a brave and admirable character, being so young he had to face so many challenges and so many tragedies that his bravery and courage surprises me. I think Harry Potter has a great message that he carries with him and that is to get up and go after life knocks you to the ground and disarms you. Without family and without knowing very well who you are, this character battles against everyone and everything to find himself and to be a good person, to be fair, to be recognized for his actions and not for the story behind his name. This fictional character seems very interesting to me, he is a boy who has many things to teach us adults about tolerance, teamwork, courage, will, friendship, and about the inner strength that each one of us it costs us so much to develop.
Ésta interrogante me hizo pensar mucho sobre todo el por qué. Pero me remonté a mi amor de la infancia y por eso quisiera conocer a Harry Potter. Leía sus libros cuando iba a la escuela y crecí viendo sus películas, todavía las veo y quisiera que a mis hijas les gustara también. Este niño mago a mí me parece un personaje tan valiente y tan admirable, siendo tan joven tuvo que enfrentarse a tantos retos y a tantas tragedias que me sorprende su valentía y su coraje. Creo que Harry Potter tiene un gran mensaje que lleva consigo y es el de levantarse y seguir después de que la vida te tira al suelo y te desarma. Sin familia y sin saber muy bien quien eres, este personaje batalla contra todos y contra todo para encontrarse y para ser una buena persona, para ser justo, para ser reconocido por sus actos y no por la historia que hay detrás de su nombre. Este personaje de ficción me parece muy interesante, es un chico que tiene muchas cosas que enseñarnos a los adultos sobre la tolerancia, el trabajo en equipo, la valentía, la voluntad, la amistad, y sobre la fuerza interior que a cada uno de nosotros nos cuesta tanto desarrollar.

Oh Harry Potter, always a good and intelligent young man. I haven't really been following this childhood series. I'm sure I have missed a lot.

Seems like almost all Venezuelan gals agree with you too.
With your country so plagued with economic problems I wouldn't be sure how handle it if I were in your shoes. IF the same thing happens in Canada I would have to manually source water from the creeks that feed into the Fraser River. The problem is that these water sources had been at times in the past contaminated with a variety of toxic pollutants and may not be fully safe despite the Watershed Engineer's assurances after cleen up.

Go figure! We hardly have a source of fresh water on the island where I live. We are surrounded by the sea and the plants that make the water drinkable do not work, from the mainland they send us water through underground pipes. Many people want it to rain to collect water and cover some of their needs, the truth is so sad. But I am glad for your comment and knowing that you are in a better situation there.

I feel the same too about no water when you have kids - it does get tricky.
Harry Potter is a good choice. You must absolutely get him to teach you some of those magic tricks :D
