I don't think it's a new thing that first borns experience more pressure than any other child of the family, I'm not trying to sound villanous but this feeling (pressure) comes naturally as you grow.

First child either male or female is the strength of the parent. They most times learn from their parent while their younger ones learn from them.
The lucky get to learn from their good parents. The ones that have bad parent either learn or become good by learning outside the home all by themselves.
