This was an interesting morning. Maybe the word interesting can be replaced with a different one, with a word that would show a thread of surprises. Some of my actions finished with unexpected results, but we don't necessarily have to take them as bad outcomes. Anyway, you can judge them after reading the first two paragraphs. So, yesterday evening my husband asked me if I have some plans for today. I am officially on my summer school break which started this Monday. The last week (and the week before it) were super busy, but right now I don't have to go to work, the major projects are finished and we can take some calm days, with walks, going to the beach in the morning hours and maybe with some preparation for our upcoming road trip.
I was a bit lazy to get up for an early morning walk so my husband left alone and we met after an hour at one place where we like to swim. I drove there and the fun time started. Better than cleaning the home as I wanted to start doing it today. The water was clear, there were no waves so we used these perfect circumstances to swim. Chilling time and later again swim before we went home. It would be all nice but... I noticed pus coming out from my little cut as a result that one stitch didn't do its work anymore. I wanted to clean the whole apartment, but I guess I will have to leave it for at least a few days more and listen to the nurse who removed the stitches today and gave me an antibiotic ointment to calm down the infection. The bandage is back and I have to rest. What is good about this? Well, it is a major challenge for me to do nothing, but I have a few ideas - reading a book, watching TV maybe, more Hive and less cleaning 😂
Good plan, right?
There are always many posts on Hive you can read but also participate in challenges and initiatives that can give you some inspiration. Yesterday, I saw a post by @ruffatotmeee about her favourite toys from her childhood. It was her entry to the Ladies of Hive Community Contest #140 answering the question What was your favourite toy when you were young?
I remembered some of the moments from my childhood and according to the new circumstances that I have to stay away from cleaning and swimming, some of my memories from my childhood are coming here now. Writing does not require a lot of physical effort, so I guess we will see me more active these days. Maybe. :D
Ok, let's see what were my favourite toys when I was a child.
I remember living in an old house (it was not that old, but I called it old before we moved to the new one) with a garden. I was spending time outside, probably with balls, riding a little grey bicycle, and playing with the petals of the flowers and puddles after the rain. Once I fell into the basement (oops) trying to catch a ball. We had a dog, always several cats so spending time with the four-legged ones was something I loved.
From toys, I remember one doll and her dresses that my mom and grandmother made for her, and an improvised doll house from my father's toolbox he didn't use anymore. One of the nice memories I also have is playing with trains and a railway, on a wooden platform my father made. To make decoration (trees and houses that were placed by the rails) we used marzipan! At that time I didn't like it so instead of eating it we formed some figures of it! (Now I do like to eat marzipan). I also had a few little cars and a mirror, hair brush and sun glasses that I bought (asked my parents to buy) at one street market. I remember it because I accidentally broke the sunglasses even before we arrived home. 😆
Soft toys. Had a few ones, and they were my little "students". I was teaching them, but not music. What was the subject... (fancy a guessing game? :D) It was already when I was around 9 or 10 years old.
The only photo where I can be seen with a toy is the following one. I was in the garden of my great-grandmother, playing with a toy scale. What is so funny in this photo is my hair, I have no idea why I had it that short and in that weird shape hahaha. I found this photo in one of my old photo albums.
The only soft toy, or we can say stuffed toy I still have with me is Maxi. He has a zip on his back where we can store other, smaller soft toys or small garments. I got Maxi from one of my aunts, my sister had one too, but I don't know does she still keep it.
But wait, the story of my favourite childhood toys doesn't finish here. You know, I always say that piano has been my favourite toy. 🎹
Although it is not a just toy - I play it. It needs my imagination to create a sound on it, of course I also need skills and a lot of practicing but there is a connection with toys. Play a musical instrument as a child plays with its favourite toy.
Instead of a conclusion, just a few additional words. This was my very first post in the Ladies of Hive community, I am not sure why I haven't posted in it earlier. But as I said, we get inspired reading other people's posts, so if you think you want to share your favourite toy from your childhood feel free to check out the invitation post for this contest!
This was a little like deja'vu. Childhood dolls. Me doing nothing. As if. Challenging to say the least. What a cutie pie you were. Don't feel wierd about that hairdo. We all had THAT hairdo at some point in our childhood. Me included. Thanks for a delightful read @mipiano
Oh, I know, some of us had that hairstyle as our parents weren't good with the scissors or we did it to ourselves, but look, my grandma and grandpa had their beauty saloon in the town - they were hairdressers, very good ones. And me - with that hair 😂
Thank you so much for reading and for your cheerful comment 😇
Apart from listening to some of your musical performances, this is my first time reading a written post of yours. Thanks for shearing some of childhood experiences @mipiano. I wish I have encountered musical instruments at that tender age...
Really? Well, I am glad you read it, my performance posts are somehow on vacation 😅
I had the luck to have a grand piano at home when I was small. That is when how my journey with the piano started 🎶
We can’t wait to have you back on track @mipiano. In Nigeria were I come from, most Parents will never see Piano as a necessity. For some that can afford it, its a distraction for the growing child😀. All our Parents over here wants to do is to make we go to school, do extra lessons and take care of our school works.
;)
Hahaha, I know, I know... but I have never learned that art of hacer reposo 😅😂
I have to solve this mystery tonight with my pillow. Yo nunca doy en el clavo en un primer momento. 😂
-editado- porque sí.
Ah, ¿Has visto Kill Bill?
He tomado tanto café que no puedo 💤
😂 Gracias por el premio, pero no tiraste los 🎊 jajaja
Ooowww how cute was the little @mipiano 🤗🤗😂😂 for sure you had all those pets with you to play , And it's normal you still have Mr Maxi toy because you are still some young 😸 just a few year has pass from you just used to play with it 😇
Hehe, thank you, and you say it even after seeing that hairstyle? 😂
I didn't have dreadlocks :)
Maxi is useful and I got it when I was not too small anymore. The only soft toy I still have, I don't know where the others finished 😑
I Hope you get better from the injury soon!!
Thanks :)
I could even play Pilota Valenciana soon (hahaha, broma, creo que esto no, pero he podido tocar el piano, eso sin problemas 😇)
🤣🤣🤣
Anything... except cleaning. I've always been unhappy when the wife decides to clean the house, and it happens quite often, too often in my opinion. Of course, I'm aware of the necessity of cleaning.
You're in for a big vacation, summer vacation! Before I retired I envied teachers for having such a long vacation. I mean you have to enjoy the days off but surely you know much better what to do.
The Mediterranean haunted my dreams, but I have to be content with the Black Sea. I enjoyed reading about the relaxing swim in the Mediterranean and that you will have more time for pleasant and relaxing activities.
I do love cleaning, well, I like to see when the apartment is clean and organized, it makes me happy. But I didn't really have time lately to do that, so it is a must! 😅 But it can wait for some 3-4 days (😬)
I admit that when the house is clean and arranged it is much nicer and pleasant. However, cleaning day seems like a wasted day and it's great when it can be postponed!
I'm so sorry to hear about your cut and infection. That sounds really frustrating, especially since you were looking forward to cleaning and getting ready for your road trip.
But I'm glad to hear that you're taking some time to relax and enjoy your favorite things, like reading, watching TV, and being on Hive.
The cleaning part will have to happen. Sí o sí. But when hahaha.
Still didn't watch the TV since I wrote this post 😁
😲😲😲 Lucky you. We were happy if out parents could by a half a kg of szaloncukor for the Christmas tree. I didn't see marzipan, till the change came.
Szaloncukor... We had a few of those that we were using for many many years, just hanging from the Christmas tree. It was forbidden to eat though!
We got that marzipan from an aunt, in a package sent for Xmas from Germany ;)
Hi, I'm glad you're on vacation! Bad that you have to mix it with some rest too, but as you say, this last part involves less housework so it's like a double vacation 😅😂.
In fact I've never written in this community either, hahahaha I don't know why but well...I'll probably start to stop by here from time to time and read some good stories or participate in the initiatives.
Best regards and speedy recovery! 🤗
There is a first time for everything haha, so for writing in a new community too :D Just try to do it because of a better reason, not because you force yourself to rest 😁
Starting your day with the beauty of the sea, for sure you feel refreshed after visiting in there. Arggh! I really missed going to the seaside but it's always just a plan for me. I can't make it happen yet because no one will come with me. And the fare to get therr is a little pricey but I can still do something with that, maybe soon I can finally make it happen (≧▽≦).
Anyways, you're so cute in that photo, and that hairstyle, I remember I had a similar hairstyle before as a kid. I don't know why they will cut it like that, seriously ಥ‿ಥ but well, it still cute for a kid so (≧▽≦).
Toys are really a big part of our childhood, also reason why it is fun and full of excitement time. And even as a kid you already love a piano, its really meant to be, for you to love it and be good at it ฅ^•ﻌ•^ฅ
I hope you can somehow get to the seashore, alone or with someone you would like to share that experience. Yeah, I imagine it can be pricy, we are lucky living by the sea.
Haha, the hairstyle, I see I was not alone with it :D
So, Everything in its time, health first, then you can continue according to the plans.
Be careful and I prefer watch tv or read something.
Thank you Denis, that's true, everything in its time 😉
What beautiful and remembered toys @mipiano, I really liked the stuffed toy, it reminded me of several I had... all the ones I kept were left back in Argentina, but I got a lot of memories from reading your publication.
Surely your best toy was the piano and today your great companion and source of inspiration too.
Hugs!❤️
Yes, the piano is actually my life companion!
I don't have anymore my first piano, it was an old grand piano and couldn't be tuned anymore, I just have two photos of it, but I still remember the feeling of its keys and its characteristic sound 🎹
Keeping that memory is the most important thing, it will always live in your heart.
True 😇
what a nice photo playing with the scales, sometimes we take anything to play with but we also have special toys that remain in the memory 😊

Indeed, sometimes we can find a simple item and play with it, but I am happy having this photo and remembering my great-grandma's house, the garden, the toys we had there and all those happy moments. Though I was so small there :D
If I wake up in the morning seeing this crystal clear water, my day would be complete.
It is that calm and clear in the morning hours. Later the waves are a bit stronger though.
Thank You and happy to publish my first post here 😇
Marzipan 🤤
That scale! Still have it? This post made me think you were a real 'zvrk', always in motion and never sleeping 🤣
Is you precious a*s finally calm or you need a few more stitches? 😏
Oh my, I see I skipped responding to some comments in this post. Maybe I was playing with that scale so I didn't notice these ones 😂
No, unfortunately, I don't have it anymore, it was in the old house of my grat-grandma and although I remember keeping the toys for many years, I don't know the destiny of them when the house was sold
not really 🤣 but all is going good 😉
No worries, I don't mind you ignoring me. :Pp
Shame, it's adorable to have it as memory!
🤐
😂
That's an amazing view! I can only imagine how fun it must have been for you and your hubby to have swam in that crystal clear waters!
Hope your cut will heal real soon. I can relate with the "impossibility" of doing nothing. I am now wondering which amongst these (reading a book, watching TV maybe, more Hive and less cleaning) have you chosen. I do sense that cleaning can't be ignored for long😅
You're adorable even with the weird haircut which I believe most of us had at some point back when we were kids, haha!
It's amazing that you still have Maxi with you until this time, you're a keeper. I'm not surprised to read about the piano being your favorite, I'd say it's your calling.😍
Thank you for this and for your first post in the community. Hope to read more from you here😊
Oh, well, you sensed it perfectly 😬 😂
I think the very next day I started with the balcony, then the next day it was the whole kitchen, then finish the work in the kitchen, and today it was the rooms. I am already confused about the days, I also went to a party one evening and I think I forgot how to count hahaha. But I know that I have some more work around cleaning tomorrow. Anyway, combined with Hive but what happens is that I missed some comments, so a very late response is coming from me. I know, I just had to choose Hive and leave out completely the cleaning thing 😂
Thank you, that haircut is making me laugh 🤣 but maybe if I get bored one day with the long hair I can have again a hairstyle like that. It will be easy to show the hairdresser, I mean just to show this photo haha
Thank you and I also hope to post again in this nice community, thank you once again @ifarmgirl 😇
Haha, can't blame you. But the good thing is that you didn't do them all at once. Sounds like you are enjoying your days off that you lost count of the days 😁 and no worries about delayed replies. I do that a lot especially as of late haha.
If you do try the haircut later on, do give us a peek of it 😅
Thank you too and we look forward to more :)
Good memories in not just the toys but the power of your imagination with them.
Thanks for sharing @mipiano
Exactly ;)
What is a toy without imagination?
Thank you for reading, @kerrislravenhill 😇
Hello @mipiano. You certainly had an array of toys. I feel as though any item that one enjoys can be classified as a toy. Viewing a piano as a toy ensures that you'll never tire of playing (making music) with it. I can relate to the unusual toy as I was fascinated with snowglobes. I'd stare it them for hours on end imaginaing the stories behind each object inside.
Like you with the LoH Community, I knew about Q-Inspired, but just hadn't taken the time to write my story to accompany my music.
Thanks for sharing your story. Take care and have a good rest of your week.

I also think and hope that I will never get tired of the piano. It is like a part of me, at least of my life ;)
Oh, snowglobes - that is so cool. I have always wanted to have one, as saw just in some movies. Then we got something that was not really a real snowglobe :/ It means that I am still waiting for one, of that old kinds of ones.
I collect numerous items, including those globes. I recently discovered that I had mistakenly stored some of them in the heat of my storage unit. The liquid evaporated. I was so disappointed in myself for my carelessness.
Once I locate them all, I will write about my collection. Right now, I'm trying to organize my silver coins and figurines, while decluttering.
Take care.
