Ladies of Hive Community Contest #117 - Managing Rough times on Hive

This week @LadiesofHive - Contest comes up with these questions.

1️⃣ Scenario 1: A reputation 52 friend says that she no longer wants to be active in Hive, claiming that she can't make the time, the coin is so low valued, and only a few people ever read her posts. What could you do to encourage and help her to keep trying? Writing tips? Time management? Other?

Almost all of us go through these feelings in the beginning. When you join and if you do not know anyone on this platform, it is a challenge to figure out the dynamics of this place. Thankfully with a lot of enhancement on the platform there are quite a few communities who support the beginners, and they do not feel alienated. The community concept in itself is very nurturing for new people on the platform, and they can comfortably settle down. But, yes the first few months are going to be challenging. You have no contacts, the whole concept is new, and you do not have followers who will read your content, which is very discouraging. You may write a wonderful blog and not even get a $1 vote or a single comment. This can completely bring your motivational level down.

My advice to such a friend will be

  • Give yourself 3 to 4 months time before you expecting any results. In this time, keep the effort of making your content. In this place, if you are out of sight you are out of mind.
  • Join Communities of your interest and join their Discord channels, where a lot of personal interactions happen. This makes the person comfortable and gives a sense of belonging to the place.
  • A lot of engagement without any expectation. Read other people's post and make comment. Select users whose content relates with you and then follow them, comment on their blogs. Increase your visibility. It is a daily work and if it is done just once in a while then people will not take interest in you.
  • I will highlight the benefits of this platform where when you share your content you get paid something, in comparison to other social media where you put up your content and have absolute zero possibility of earning anything.
  • As for the low value, I will show the person the price trends of Hive, where in the last run it went 3+$, I will motivate the person with the future prospects that Hive has. I will highlight the potential that Hive holds, explain to them, how Hive has grown in the last few years and how majority of the people here who started with zero balance are now holding good Hive balance.

I will like to keep it simple and encourage the person, to give a time period of 6 months for self with 100% dedication and commitment.

2️⃣ Scenario 2: A reputation 58 girl is frustrated over her last post having been downvoted to half it’s payout by a Watchdog account accusing her of plagiarism. She becomes angry and vows to quit Hive. What could you do to help resolve the situation? Tell her to relax? Other? Thoughts?

For the second question -
In the first place if the person has been downvoted for plagiarism and if it is genuine which ideally it would be, then I will advise the person to be mindful on that part and maintain the reputation. I will explain the person the importance of original work because there is a payout attached to it. One cannot take a payout on Plagiarized content.

If it is a one time incident, then I will advise the person to take the lessons and move forward with a good heart, mind and feelings. I would tell her, that we all make mistakes and it is ok, not to stress out on that, just take it as a learning experience.

If the downvote is for any other reason and if it is once in a while then I would again advise the person to overlook the matter. It would not make any sense to keep feeling negative about it. After all this is a decentralized platform and there are people with diverse background and mindsets so one as to be prepared to take some hits also while on the way up. If it is a continuous issue, then I would advise the person to connect with the person downvoting on Discord and check what the matter is. It is possible that the opposite person may not give a pleasant response but politely checking with them will not hurt.

For both the scenarios I will share my own personal experiences on the platform. The first one, where I struggled to sustain on Hive and finally started doing good for myself. The second one where I was on a downvote trail for a long time because of my good earnings. Thankfully overcoming both of these I am still here, and there is no guarantee that it will not happen in future. But I continue to do my job with sincerity in any case.

These are my pieces of advice for people going through rough times on Hive

@nainaztengra, You have received 1.0000 LOH for posting in Ladies of Hive. We believe that you should be rewarded for the time and effort spent in creating articles. The goal is to encourage token holders to accumulate and hodl LOH tokens over a long period of time.

One could learn a lot from this. And it's true, it is better to give it time and do what we can to make our presence felt. If we are only here for the short-term, then we'd most likely be disappointed.

Thank you for sharing all these points and tips.

Below some great tips and advice your friend would be a lucky person to have you as a friend!😉

@nainaztengra I love your commentary in general, I was very motivated to read it! I wish you success in this initiative

Thanks💐

I'm imagining you sitting at a patio table across from our Newbie, laptops open, shaded by a cluster of palm trees, two cocktail drinks resting between the laptops. Her glum demeanor reflecting off your sun glass lenses.

Thanks for participating @nainaztengra 💐
