Responding to the questions asked in this new #LadiesOfHive challenge, I have no hesitation in answering.
If given the choice between being without light or without water for a week, my answer without hesitation, is that I prefer to be without light.
Without water, you can't live. It is definitely horrible.
In my country, the power goes out all the time. There are states where there are up to 18 hours a day without electricity.
Two years ago we had a national blackout that lasted a week. Many of us had damage to what we had in the refrigerator. There were days when I could not publish, because when the power went out, the cell phone signal was gone, as well as the Internet. We were completely disconnected.
It's something I could definitely do without without a problem. Those days I mentioned, despite the lack of energy, were wonderful times when my little boy and I connected so much. We spent the days reading children's stories, talking, bonding more. As evening began to fall, we would light our candles and so, in the candlelight, we would continue reading.
And so, by candlelight, in the narrow labyrinths of my thoughts, I realized that bittersweet taste that life was giving us to taste and how a wandering energy was slowly running through my insides.
And by candlelight, he would read me a story. And in the midst of the growing darkness, I could only understand that he is everything to me; because of him and for him is the reason I live.
But without water, definitely not. I can't live without water.
I can be by candlelight, I can buy ice every day to try to keep food down, I can even be without the sound of the fan at night, which I love to fall asleep to.
But there is nothing worse than being without being able to take a shower, without being able to flush the toilets, without drinking a delicious and healthy glass of water. Besides, it is a vital part of our nature. It is part of our planet. Living without water would be like living without air.

Someone remembers that fable that said:
"A multimillionaire man, had a little son and one day he said to him:
- Son, I want you to spend a few days living in poverty. You need to learn to value what you have. So starting tomorrow, I will take you to a very poor place.
And so he did. He took him to a very very very very poor and humble little house, which did not have basic services. With a smile, she turned around and left.
After a while, he returned to pick up his son and on his way back home, in the limousine, the father asked his son, "What are you doing here?
- What did you think of the experience?
- Well, Dad, I realized that we have one dog and they have three.
We have a pool and they have the river.
We buy the food and they plant and harvest it.
We cook on a digital stove and they cook on a wood stove.
We are connected to social networks and the latest technology and they are connected to the sound of the river, to nature, to the sky.
The father could not believe it, he was shocked by his son's words. Then the boy put a hand on his hand and said:
-Thank you dad for showing me how poor we are."
Do you remember this story?
Water is part of us, part of our life. As are all the elements of our nature. The rest is added by human beings. I could not live without water.
This is what I think. Take away my electricity, my Internet and send me to live in a remote place where there is water, a spring, a waterfall or a river. With that, my little boy, candles and a book to read, I'm happy.

Respondiendo a las preguntas hechas en este nuevo reto de #LadiesOfHive, no tengo dudas en responder.
Si me dan a escoger entre estar sin luz o sin agua durante una semana, mi respuesta sin vacilar, es que prefiero estar sin luz.
Sin agua no se puede vivir. Es definitivamente horrible.
En mi país, se va la luz a cada rato. Hay estados en los que están hasta mas de 18 horas diarias sin luz.
Hace dos años tuvimos un apagón nacional que duró una semana. A muchos se nos dañó lo que teníamos en la nevera. Fueron días en los que no pude publicar, porque al irse la luz, la señal del celular no existe, así como tampoco el Internet. Quedamos completamente desconectados.
Es algo de lo que definitivamente podría prescindir sin problemas. Esos días que mencioné, a pesar de la falta de energía, fueron momentos maravillosos en los que mi hijito y yo, nos conectamos muchísimo. Pasábamos los días leyendo cuentos infantiles, hablando, uniéndonos más. Ya cuando comenzaba a caer la tarde, encendíamos nuestras velas y así, a la luz de las velas, seguíamos leyendo.
Y así, a la luz de las velas, en los estrechos laberintos de mis pensamientos, me daba cuenta de ese sabor agridulce que la vida nos estaba dando a probar y como una energía errante iba recorriendo lentamente mis entrañas.
Y a la luz de las velas, él me leía un cuento. Y en medio de la creciente oscuridad, solo podía entender que él es todo para mí; por él y para él es la razón por la que vivo.
Pero sin agua, definitivamente no. No puedo vivir sin agua.
Puedo estar a la luz de las velas, puedo comprar hielo todos los días para tratar de mantener los alimentos, puedo estar incluso sin el sonido del ventilador en las noches, que adoro para quedarme dormida.
Pero no hay algo peor que estar sin poder tomar una ducha, sin poder bajar los inodoros, sin beber un delicioso y sano vaso de agua. Además que es parte vital en nuestra naturaleza. Es parte de nuestro planeta. Vivir sin agua, sería como vivir sin aire.
Alguien recuerda esa fábula que decía:
"Un hombre multimillonario, tenía un hijo pequeño y un día le dijo:
- Hijo, quiero que estés unos días conviviendo con la pobreza. Necesitas aprender a valorar lo que tienes. Así que a partir de mañana, te llevaré a un lugar muy pobre.
Y así lo hizo. Lo llevó a una casita muy muy muy pobre y humilde, que no tenía los servicios básicos. Con una sonrisa, se dio la vuelta y se fue.
Al cabo del tiempo, regresó a buscar a su hijo y ya de regreso a casa, en la limosina, el padre le pregunta al hijo:
¿Qué te pareció la experiencia?
Bueno papá, me di cuenta que nosotros tenemos un perro y ellos tienen tres.
Nosotros tenemos una piscina y ellos tienen el río.
Nosotros tenemos lámparas hermosas y ellos tienen la luna y el cielo lleno de estrellas.
Nosotros compramos la comida y ellos la siembran y la cosechan.
Nosotros cocinamos en cocina digital y ellos en la leña.
Nosotros estamos conectados a las redes sociales y a la tecnología más moderna y ellos están conectados al sonido del río, a la naturaleza, al cielo.
El papá no lo podía creer, estaba impactado ante las palabras de su hijo. Entonces el niño le puso una mano sobre la suya y le dijo:
-Gracias papá por enseñarme lo pobres que somos nosotros."
¿Se acuerdan de esta historia?
El agua es parte de nosotros, de nuestra vida. Así como lo son todos os elementos de nuestra naturaleza. Lo demás es añadido por el ser humano. Yo no podría vivir sin agua.
Esto es lo que yo pienso. Quítenme la luz, el Internet y envíenme a vivir a un lugar remoto donde haya agua, un manantial, una cascada o un río. Yo con eso, mi hijito, velas y un libro para leer, soy feliz.

That's a real good story. We are so dependent on modern-day conveniences but I too feel, sometimes we are disconnected from the essence of living and appreciating what truly matters.

Los venezolanos sabemos muy bien de la fallas de estas dos necesidades. Sin lugar a dudas sin agua el ser humano no puede sobrevivir. Y si nuestras reservas de agua son impulsadas con la electricidad estamos bien complicados en cuál escoger. Excelente semana. @purrix
