Hello dear girls of the community. Today I want to join the proposal of @justclickindiva in the contest #111. Wow, it is a number that is said to be easy but the truth is that, in practice it is not so simple, because you have been constant, bringing us week after week a different contest. You guys definitely make a difference.
I have thought a lot about the first question and the truth is that the advice I can give to a first time decorator, are few but I am sure they will be effective.
Here we go....
1️⃣ We've all seen our neighbors' homes and yards beautifully decorated during the holidays. Elaborate Christmas decorating, both indoors and outdoors, can be fun or a headache. What advice would you give to a first-time decorator?
It can certainly present a real challenge with satisfying results or a real disaster. Sometimes we want to cover more than we can, we want to surprise everyone and we want our decorations to be the best, worthy of the cover of a magazine, but with little knowledge of the subject and really in this case, the intention is not the only thing that counts.
That's why it's important to keep a few things in mind:
🎄Have a clear idea of what you want to do, so you don't overspend on items that later won't match, just because they looked pretty in the store and end up forgotten in a box.
🎄 In my country there is a tradition and it is that the crib can never be missing in a home. They range from tiny to huge. There are even crib contests in shopping malls and here people show off. For a first-time decorator, it would be very difficult to build a worthy manger, because you have to make mountains, streams, houses, church, the people of the town and of course, in the center would be the Virgin Mary, St. Joseph, the Baby Jesus (who is usually hidden until December 24 at 1200 at night), the mule, the ox and the Holy Spirit. I have never been able to build a nativity scene, they are disastrous and I lose patience quickly. I drop the characters, the animals and the end result is that it looks like a village after a landslide 😕😂. So, if you don't have experience, don't start building a crib.
My crib is the smallest and simplest thing in the world (according to my skills 🤦).
🎄With the Christmas tree, if you can let your imagination run wild. Everything is valid and the more ornaments and lights, the better.
🎄 With the facades is another thing. In my country, there are many beautiful facades. The ideal is to combine tones. I think that those little colored lights that we put on the Christmas tree, do not look good outside. It is best to use only one color, for example, yellow or white lights look nice and do not overload the facade too much. A single color of lights, gives a touch of elegance and distinction to the facade. I don't know, I think that neither too much nor too little, you have to know when it is enough. That does not go with experience, but rather with common sense.
🎄 Last and not least, is patience. If the first-timer is hired to decorate someone else's house, that person can change his mind a thousand times and end up with the patience of a Saint, but you have to take a deep breath and try to understand what that difficult client wants.
2️⃣ What is my formula for managing stress and feeling overwhelmed, during the holiday season?
Many people get stressed out this time of year, especially when it comes to shopping. The malls get crazy, the carts look like they are being driven by wild animals and not people, the tides of people in the stores... nooo...!!!!! It's to run away or stay at home.
I have avoided all that because for a few years now, I have been buying little by little since October. No racing against time, no stress. That way I don't spend so much because, let's remember that in December the prices of everything go up. The only thing I leave for the end is the food. Because I even buy the drinks ahead of time. I have always been methodical and organized, because I don't like to leave things to the last minute.
As for clothes, there is a tradition that is to wear new clothes for December 24 and 31. I stopped doing it many years ago. Any time is a good time to wear new clothes. In fact, I always spend the 24th alone with my sister and my son and that night we have a sleepover, we eat anything tasty, no special dishes, but we accompany it with a good wine and a good selection of movies.
December 31 is something else. The whole family gets together and we eat the typical Venezuelan dish: Hallaca, pernil or roast beef, Russian salad and ham bread.
So that's my way of handling things. I enjoy the whole month of December. They are dates that give me a lot of joy, that fill me with an indescribable magic and good vibes. These are dates when we can meet again with people who have a special place in our hearts.

Hola queridas chicas de la comunidad. Hoy quiero unirme a la propuesta de @justclickindiva en el concurso #111. Wow, es un número que se dice fácil pero la verdad es que, en la práctica no es tan sencillo, porque han sido constantes, trayéndonos semana a semana un concurso distinto. Ustedes definitivamente marcan la diferencia.
He pensado mucho en la primera pregunta y lo cierto es que los consejos que puedo dar a un decorador primerizo, son pocos pero estoy segura de que serán efectivos.
Aquí vamos...
1️⃣ Todos hemos visto las casas y los jardines de nuestros vecinos bellamente decorados durante las fiestas. La decoración navideña elaborada, tanto en interiores como en exteriores, puede ser divertida o un quebradero de cabeza. ¿Qué consejo le daría a un decorador primerizo?
Ciertamente puede representar un verdadero desafío con resultados satisfactorios o un verdadero desastre. A veces queremos abarcar más de lo que podemos, queremos sorprender a todos y que nuestras decoraciones sean lo máximo, dignas de la portada de una revista, pero con un escaso conocimiento del tema y realmente en este caso, la intención no es lo único que cuenta.
Por eso es importante tener en cuenta algunas cosas:
🎄Tener una idea clara de lo que quiere hacer, para no gastar más de la cuenta en artículos que luego no vayan a combinar, solo porque en la tienda se veían bonitos y terminen olvidados en una caja.
🎄En mi país existe una tradición y es que el pesebre nunca puede faltar en un hogar. Los hay desde chiquitos hasta enormes. Incluso, hay concursos de pesebres en centros comerciales y aquí la gente se luce. A un decorador primerizo, se le haría muy cuesta arriba construir un pesebre digno, porque hay que hacer montañas, riachuelos, casitas, iglesia, las personas del pueblo y por supuesto, en el centro iría La Virgen María, San José, el Niño Jesús (que se suele esconder hasta el 24 de diciembre a las 1200 de la noche), la mula, el buey y el Espíritu Santo. Yo nunca he podido construir un pesebre, me quedan desastrosos y pierdo la paciencia rápido. Se me caen los personajes, los animalitos y el resultado final es que parece un pueblo después de un deslave 😕😂. Entonces, si no tiene experiencia, no se ponga a construir un pesebre.
Mi pesebre es lo más pequeño y sencillo del mundo (de acuerdo a mis habilidades 🤦♀️).
🎄Con el arbolito de navidad, si puede echar a volar su imaginación. Todo es válido y mientras más adornos y luces lleve, mejor.
🎄 Con las fachadas es otra cosa. En nuestro país, hay muchas fachadas preciosas. Lo ideal es combinar tonos. Pienso que esas lucecitas de colores que ponemos en el árbol de navidad, no se ven bien afuera. Lo mejor es un solo color, por ejemplo las luces amarillitas o blancas se ven lindas y no recargar demasiado la fachada. Un solo color de las luces, le da un toque de elegancia y distinción a la fachada. No sé, pienso que ni mucho ni poco, hay que saber cuándo es suficiente. Eso no va con la experiencia, sino más bien con el sentido común.
🎄 Lo último y no menos importante, es la paciencia. Si el primerizo es contratado para adornar la casa de otra persona, esa persona puede cambiar mil veces de opinión y acabar con la paciencia de un Santo, pero hay que respirar profundo y tratar de entender lo que quiere ese cliente difícil.
2️⃣ ¿Cuál es mi fórmula para manejar el estrés y sentirme abrumada, durante la temporada navideña?
A muchas personas les estresa esta época del año, sobre todo a la hora de hacer las compras. Los centros comerciales se vuelven una locura, los carros parece que estuviesen siendo manejados por animales salvajes y no por personas, las mareas de gente en las tiendas... nooo...!!! Es para salir corriendo o quedarse en casa.
Yo me he evitado todo eso porque desde hace unos años para acá, voy comprando poco a poco desde el mes de octubre. Sin carreras contra el tiempo, sin estrés. Así no gasto tanto porque además, recordemos que en diciembre suben los precios de todo. Lo único que dejo para el final es el tema de la comida. Porque hasta la bebida la voy comprando con tiempo. Siempre he sido metódica y organizada, porque no me gusta dejar las cosas para última hora.
En cuanto a la ropa, hay una tradición que es estrenar ropa para el 24 y el 31 de diciembre. Yo desde hace muchos años, dejé de hacerlo. Cualquier momento es bueno para estrenar ropa. De hecho, los 24 siempre los paso sola con mi hermana y mi hijo y esa noche hacemos una pijamada, comemos cualquier cosa rica, nada de platillos especiales, pero si lo acompañamos con un buen vino y una buena selección de películas.
El 31 de diciembre es otra cosa. Toda la familia nos reunimos y comemos el plato típico de Venezuela: Hallaca, pernil o asado de carne, ensalada rusa y pan de jamón.
Así que esa es mi manera de manejar las cosas. Yo disfruto todo el mes de diciembre. Son fechas que me regalan mucha alegría, que me llenan de una magia indescriptible y de buena vibra. Son fechas es las que podemos reencontrarnos con seres que ocupan un lugar especial en nuestros corazones.

Chama siii... Mi hermano me dijo, la última vez que hice un nacimiento, que parecía La Guaira después del deslave. Lo reconozco, había quedado espantoso. Y tenía de todo para ser bonito. Mi papá había hecho las casitas, las había pintado, hizo un puentecito, un pozo de los deseos... había de todo, pero la "constructora" más bien fue una destructora 😂😂😂😂

Hello @purrix. I love how you decorated your tree with some novel items. Also, you start early in October purchasing your holida supplies. That's a good idea. The facade, I also feel, is the hardest to decorate. I like a single color also instead of numerous colored flashing rights.

When it comes to decorations, surely imaginations are endless and you can just keep going on and on and in the pursuit of making it the best sometimes we over do it :-)
Yes, it is true. Although I confess that I don't have much imagination in that sense. My sister does, she is a decorator at heart. Her house is beautiful and has details in every corner, which are very nice. I do 🙄🤔 when it comes to decorating 😂.
Some simple but great tips there. Being organized takes so much of the stress out of the work.
