Greetings, community. I participate in this contest thanks to the invitation that @katleya made me. More and more countries in Latin America lose their democracies to give way to dictatorial, totalitarian governments. I live in one of them, Venezuela. The loss of democracy implies losing freedom, which is the central issue that I would like to discuss. It is important to know how each person considers freedom, what aspects it covers. Freedom of speech, freedom of the press, freedom of opinion, freedom of belief, freedom to choose, freedom to decide, free will, freedom to roam, for leisure and recreation, freedom of thought and we could go on. The pandemic has changed the world in just one year. We live with restrictions unknown until recently. The freedom to breathe has been lost. We have lost the ability to hug. Visits were left behind. Impossible to go to a library. Our children have been forced to say goodbye to their classrooms, they have had to forget the freedom of recess time. All these restrictions in a country dominated by totalitarianism are multiplying. We have thought about the simple freedom of wanting to be what we want. That in Venezuela is impossible. I share this video. there are many others, to accompany these reflections. Hugs, friends. Do not forget to include a link to this post in the original announcement article.
I invite you to reflect, to think deeply about freedom. Not in how much we have lost but in how much we can win.
Good luck with the contest, @petronila!
