But is this dowry system good or bad for our culture?According to the dowry prohibition ( Act no. 28 of 1961) Giving and demanding dowry is a legal crime. I have seen in my society that girls have to suffer domestic violence because they do not bring dowry. Sometimes they are burnt, sometimes they are divorced and many more.
But I believe that if the groom's side asks for dowry, it is a bad thing. and nowadays dowry is also seen as a gift and a blessing . And just imagine that a father knows everything about his daughter's likes and dislikes. And after marriage, if he gives her something of her choice, it is not a bad thing.his daughter's choice can be a small thing or a big thing.
And I have seen one more interesting thing in my society that if a girl gets a good thing as dowry in a marriage Seeing that thing, the other person will also give a lot for his pride and this is true. And even if they don't have money, they will take a loan and give dowry. Giving dowry has become a trend these days. And sometimes my family also jokingly asks me what will you take as dowry.
