It's rough out there! I was looking a little while ago. I've decided to take some time off and just freelance though. Lets me be a nomad and not be tied down.

Been poking around since April. Last role was a Data Analyst. There is a lot of roles, but they're paying 30k less than my last one, with more responsibility.
I think companies are either tightly squeezed themselves, they need to people power and don’t quite have the resources to post decent salaries. Meanwhile the cost of living rises and rises. I sometimes think about jumping into a different role but staying where I am might be best
When someone pouring drinks at a bar or collecting glasses from the pub tables gets paid about the same (at least here) - it makes me want never look at a line of SQL or DAX ever again :P
I can totally understand that. I’m in a complex mood about my job, my career at the moment, I have until now, loved what I do. In recent years though, especially the last two, I’ve had doubts. Have thought of doing something simpler. Just can’t do it though, plus postpone would question my sanity if I did. Especially my nearest and dearest.
Well, since taking my retrenchment at my old workplace - it has been the best thing I ever did for my mental health. I will write a post about that one day, but I think I need more time for the change to fully sink in.
