RE: Snaps Container // 1738810800

To Hivewatchers's credit, I am noticing that they are dropping some educational posts on New Hivers' intro posts to give people some heads up -- there is a Hive 101 and avoiding plagiarism guide, and if that were standard upon onboarding, I'm sure it would solve a lot of problems.

Sort:

I am cool with that. I am not cool with their request to verify identity via established social media accounts. That is very intrusive. Some people want to be anonymous, me for instance. I've attended Hive meetups in several countries, I've shown my face and stated my name, but never onchain. Just because it is onchain - you can never delete it from there.

That I did not know HW was doing ... for the crypto world, that IS a problem, because anonymity is one of the major points.

Here's the template. I found it under a post that can hardly be considered plagiarism.

I have seen this becoming more common because of cyberattacks and AI accounts. I am a mod in a Discord in which there is a similar screening process. It is a dangerous time not to vet people allowed into any community. That said, the community has not agreed to this...

Well, but the post is far from anything AI generated.

Here is the challenge, as someone who has put in a few years modding: getting ahead of problems is the only way to go, especially since the chain is already under attack. We have not seen the rush there will be when Hive is at $1 or higher. Methods, however, might be changed.

I believe communities can handle most of the abuse themselves, at least the moderated and curated ones. People in the communities actually care about the topic(s).
